Mike Bassett !!! He's as good (or should that be as bad...) as any of the other options... www.manager.co.th had an online poll a couple of days ago. Most people here voted for Mourinho... But I've heard that both Mourinho and Martin O'Neil, the 2 favourites have both said no... Shearer would be a good choice in terms of popularity, but probably a bad one in terms of tactics etc... as he doesn't have that much managerial experience... I'm not sure that there is an English person who's good enough to do the job. Robson (our manager) isn't that great, and there's no other former internationals who've gone into management who's names really stand out... If I could choose anyone, I'd probably go for one of these... Fergie (yeah - I know, he's a Scot, there's no way he'd take the job) Wegner (same, he's French, why on earth would he want the hassle of managing the English national side...) O'Neil (he did a great job at Celtic, is doing well at Villa and I reckon he'd be OK at managing England... but apparently, he doesn't want it either...) There's also Klinsmann (he was quite popular when he was at Tottenham and has done a fantastic job with the German national side, but he's German... ) There would probably be a big uproar if the FA appointed a german guy to manage our national side... I can almost imagine the SUN headlines now... There's also Scholari (I can't spell his name), the guy who was also in the runinng when McLaren was appointed. I reckon he'd be OK too. What about you ? But I just hope we have someone who can get the players to play as well when they play for England as when they play for their clubs!
