Dear Me
Did you ever think you would have what you are having now early in your life? No. At the time of financial hardship, you were just 14. You wished you could enjoy a teenage life but the burden of taking care of your baby brother took away all your time as a teenager. You resented your mother who was addicted to gambling and left you to perform a mother role for your baby brothers. Now I suppose you thank her because those personal experiences helped you learn how to manage everything in life even in the most difficult situation.

And I know why you think of your father more often than your mother. Your father worked so hard to build financial stability in the family. But because of the lack of proper education relevant to his investment, his friends cheated him and he lost all his money. Still he gave you the future when he sent you to Australia and a year there completely changed the way you viewed life.

You said to yourself once you came back from Australia that ‘All these assets have never been mine and I will build my own wealth.’ From then on, you worked day time and studied part time. You got a bachelor degree in three and a half years which brought so much joy to your father.

However, in a time of happiness came sorrow. The biggest mistake in your life was to skip the graduation ceremony that your father wanted you to go to so much since it would be an honour for a family to have a daughter receive a degree from a member of the royal family. ‘Don’t worry, Dad. I will go to one when I graduate a master degree and I will definitely have that degree.’ you said. And you did actually get a master degree – when your father had already passed away and had no chance to see you in a graduation outfit.

You said if you could turn back time, you would call your father everyday to ask after him and to tell him you loved him. While he was still alive, if you were making good money like you are now, you would give him more too. The truth is we cannot turn back time. We learn from the past and try to avoid the same mistakes.

Although you were working and studying at the same time during all those years, it was amazing you managed to go out on dates. You did not think it was a waste of seven years to date that artist guy back then. Now you just realized you could have done many other things, had you dumped him right at the moment you knew he was not the right man for you. Well, you learned your lesson.

So you got your bachelor degree when you were 20. When you were 21, you became a legal guardian of your 9 and 12 year old brothers. By the time you were 24, you got your master degree and also paid off the home loan. Then you became a manager in your job at 25. And you got a second master degree just after you turned 30. What next?

Yes, you want to have your own family and you are 32 now. You start to feel nervous that it will get too late to have a baby by the time you meet the right person. Well, remember ‘whatever will be will be’. Isn’t this what you have always lived by? I have already seen myself that you are one of the strongest women and I am confident you will be happy regardless of how your life will be.
