American Reunion : A Beautiful Reunion Party

As the title suggested, this is my reunion party with the film and its characters. I always joke with my friends that we can call our generation as Britney Spears & American Pie generation. American Pie series are something like the parallel life of mine. Each episode reflected the theme of our time; how to destroy the virginity in high school period (Part 1), sex obsession in college life (Part 2), growing up & wedding (Part 3). And now, this part involved with the most sensitive issue – Nostalgia. We miss the old times. We think we have lost our youths. Our lives are fucked up. We have a life which is far from the one we had imagined. But still, we have to carry on and face with the reality.
Although the movie has a strong theme and message, the filmmakers conclude it with dull resolution and cheesy tone. But I can forgive them all. Seeing the face of Chris Klein, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari (and even Sherminator) is like I have met my long lost friend. The references to 90’s era make me laugh out loud; Spice Girls’ Wannabe, The X-Files, and Chumbawamba (super cult!). On the contrary, I’m almost in tears when the song ‘Sway’ was played in the dance scene.
All in all, this is a touching reunion party and also one of my most beautiful cinematic experience.
