คำว่า ต่อยหอย ประกอบด้วยคำว่า ต่อย กับ หอย

คำว่า ต่อย หมาย ถึง เอาของแข็งหรือของหนักเคาะ ตี
หรือทุบสิ่งใดสิ่งหนึ่งให้แตกหรือ หลุดออก
