The Miss Teen USA pageant crowned a new titleholder on Saturday (July 16): Danielle Doty of Harlingen, Texas.
The 18-year-old beat out Audra Mari of North Dakota to win the title and will take over from reigning Miss Teen USA Kamie Crawford of Maryland. The other finalists were Alexis Swanstrom (California, second runner-up), Taylor Clark (Kansas, third runner-up) and Sydnee Stottlemyre (Missouri, fourth runner-up).
Miss Teen USA 2005 Allie LeForce and Chet Buchanan, a Las Vegas radio and TV host, served as hosts for the pageant, which streamed live online. The pageant did not take place in the U.S.A., but at the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas.
Doty is the second Texan to be named Miss Teen USA. Christie Lee Woods, who was later an “Amazing Race” contestant, won the title in 1996.
The Miss Teen USA pageant was last televised in 2007. It has been held at the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas and streamed online since 2008. Zap2it
