Miss World Dominican Republic Dethroned
Although organizers in the country said that the Miss World organization had made an exception regarding her age, it wasnt true.
Jenny Blanco, who was to represent the Dominican Republic in the Miss World 2012 competition in Ordos, China, was rejected by Miss World organizers due to not meeting the age requirements. Blanco turned 27 this year.
Miss World rules and regulations state contestants should be between 17 and 24 years of age. In some cases, they accept up to 25 year olds.
Miss Ireland Maire Hughes lost the title last week exactly because of these requirements: She is 25 going on 26. And according to the organizer of Miss Fiji, Tomika Watters was ineligible because she was 16 years of age. Both were replaced.
Blanco had been appointed Miss World DR last February. A new representative from the Dominican Republic is expected chosen soon through a casting call, but rumors state the delegate could be Sally Aponte, who won the title of Miss Supranational Dominican Rep. last year and gave up the title on May 14th.
Miss Universe Dominican Republic was also dethroned this year, due to being divorced.
