Romania wins Top Model of the World
Loredana Salanta, 18, former Miss World Romania 2009, on Wednesday night won the Top Model of the World 2011 contest in Usedom, Germany. The Bistrita-born beauty is the first Romanian model to win this contest. The title brought Loredana 10,000 dollars and a one-year contract with World Beauty Organization.
According to German publication //www.focus.de, Salanta managed to defeat other 43 competitors. “This is the first time a Romanian wins the big prize at Top Model of the World 2011. This title is an important step in a model’s career. The agency saw a lot of potential in Loredana and given the won title, we weren’t wrong,” said Camelia Seceleanu, the foreign event manager of the Busteni Platinum Infofashion Agency, which sent Loredana to Germany. Seceleanu also said the one-year contract Loredana won with World Beauty Organization will probably bring her many other projects across the ocean.
The young woman says she is very happy and that the contest is an experience that did her well and taught her a lot. “I am very happy about this success. Romania deserves such a title. I want to make my country known everywhere,” Loredana said. Salanta represented Romania to Miss World 2009 in Johannesburg, when she was 17 and the youngest in the competition.
The contestants representic the Baltic Sea and Zimbabwe came in 2nd and 3rd place respectively, while the top models from Poland and Algeria completed the Top 5.
