I've been trying to put myself in the shoes of Japanese people. No! It's not that I actually put my feet in a pair of boots or change to wear boots instead of shoes. I've just been using Japanese skincare for quite a while. Well, I just want to begin my post with interesting words ... eeh eeh!

As you boys and girls know, that I have been mentioning that alcohol is not good for skin. You people might be wondering why Japanese people put alcohol in every products.

... I mean in everything, especially in their mouths!

No wonder many Japanese people have dry skin.

นี่อาจจะเป็นสาเหตุให้คนญี่ปุ่นส่วนมากผิวแห้งก็ได้

Basically, alcohols are added in cosmetic products as preservative, solvent, and viscosity decreasing agent. You probably often find ethanol used in cosmetics. Ethanol can be made by the fermentation of sugar or starch or very toxic plastic resins.

Unfortunately, cosmetic labels don't always tell us what they are made from.

And what about SD alcohol?

SD alcohol stands for "specially denatured" and if you may find CD alcohol, it stands for "completely denatured". These denatured alcohols are prepared by adding some chemicals to make them poisonous to drink.

And now you might be reconsidering not putting denatured alcohol on your face, eh?


ปกติแล้ว ... alcohol ที่ใส่ไปใน skincare products ส่วนมากก็ใช้เป็นวัตถุกันเสีย ตัวทำละลาย ไม่ก็ทำให้ครีมหนืดน้อยลง ... ส่วนมากแล้วเราจะพบ ethanol ซะส่วนมาก ... ethanol ทำมาจากการหมักพวกน้ำตาล หรือพวกแป้ง หรือแม้กระทั่งพวกพลาสติกอันตรายบางประเภท

แย่หน่อยที่ว่า คือเค้ามักจะไม่บอกเราว่า มันทำมาจากอะไร

ส่วน alcohol อีกตัว ที่มักจะพบบ่อยๆ ก็คือ SD alcohol

SD alchol ย่อมาาจาก "Specially Denatured" หรือบางคนอาจจะเคยเห็น CD alcohol ซึ่งย่อมาจาก "Completely Denatured" นั่นเอง ... ซึ่งก็ได้มาจากการเติมสารเคมีบางอย่างลงไปทำให้มันดื่มไม่ได้

ดื่มไม่ได้ ... แต่เอามาทาหน้า ... อึมมมม ... เข้าใจคิด

Anyway, as I said at the beginning that I will try to be a Japanese. Here is what I have been doing.

Some of you probably know that when I was younger, I was a fan boy of Shiseido. I couldn't resist the look of their products -- bottles, jars, tubes, smells ... you name it. When I saw it, I just want to tell them that please take all my money and give me your products! Then I will bring them back for my house decoration or something. They're so nice to look at.

I actually still do (but I'm not fond of their ingredients though).

Now the feeling of wanting to use Shiseido is back ... damn! But for this time, I have recently upgraded myself into "the T-zone" (stands for 3-zone T_T ... no longer Teen-zone nor Twenty-something-zone). So I got myself a set of Benefiance! Here are the stuffs I've been using.


อย่างที่เกริ่นไว้ว่า จะลองทำตัวเป็นยุ่นปี่ ... เราก็เลยโละ skincare ทุกตัว พักไว้ก่อนเลย ... ใช้ Shiseido มันอย่างเดียว ยกเว้น night cream ตัวโปรด (ตัวนี้ขาดไม่ได้)

บางคนคงอาจจำได้บ้างว่า ตอนสมัยเด็กๆ (สาวๆ ... เอื้อก) เราเป็น fan boy ของ Shiseido เลยแหล่ะ ... ชอบ packaging มัน ... มันดูสวยน่าใช้ดี ... ไม่ว่าจะเป็น ขวด กระปุก หลอด กลิ่น สี ... โอย มันดูดี น่าใช้ไปซะหมด ... เห็นทีไรก็เหมือนกับมันร้องเรียกให้เราไปหา ... ซื้อมาใช้แล้วก็ไม่ได้ประทับใจอะไร แต่ชอบที่มีขวด Shiseido ประดับบ้าน T_T

ตอนนี้ก็ยังเป็นอยู่นะ

ช่วงนี้ยิ่งหนักใหญ่ อยากใช้ อยากลองไปหมด ... แต่ตอนนี้ไอ้จะใช้ Pureness สีฟ้าๆ สวยใส มันก็กระไรอยู่ ... เราหาใช่ Teen หรือ 20 กว่าๆ อีกต่อไป T_T ... ครั้งนี้ก็เลยลองใช้ Benefiance ละกัน

ตัวที่ใช้อยู่ก็มีดังนี้จ้า


Shiseido Benefiance Creamy Cleansing Foam (75ml)
Shiseido Benefiance Enriched Balancing Softener N (100ml)
Shiseido Benefiance Daytime Protection Emulsion N SPF15 (30ml)
Shiseido Benefiance Balancing Softener (sample, 30ml)
Shiseido Benefiance Revitalizing Emulsion (sample, 10ml)

You probably notice that it's a 123 kit. I decided to give this babe a try because it's not very expensive. I actually wanted to buy Balancing Softener (alcohol-free) and Revitalizing Emulsion but the alcohol-free softener is so expensive. A 150ml bottle of toner would cost you $50. Come on!

So I decided to spend my 50 bucks for the next best (or not) thing -- the enriched softener N (alcohol-full).


เห็นหน้าตาก็คงจะรู้ว่านี้มันคือ Benefiance Program 123 ... ที่ซื้อเพราะมันไม่แพงดี ... จริงๆ แล้วอยากได้ตัว softener ที่ปราศจาก alchol มากกว่า กะจะใช้ร่วมกับ Revitalizing Emulsion ตัวที่ไม่มี alchol เช่นกัน ... แต่ว่า เจ้า softener (toner) มันแพงมากเลย ... 150ml ราคาตั้ง $50 กว่าๆ โน่น

ก็เลยเอาเงิน $50 ไปซื้อแบบ set ดีกว่า ... แล้วถือโอกาสของ sample ไปในตัว ... Shiseido เนี่ย ขี้เหนียว sample พอสมควรเลย ... แต่คราวนี้ ได้เยอะจนน่าประหลาดใจ

The Enriched Balancing Softener N comes with load of denatured alcohol (thank god I didn't accidentally drink it). The toner is not quite as runny and drying as I thought it would be. Except the alcohol, it contains a good amount of water binder, humectant and antioxidant.


พูดถึงตัว softener ที่มี alcohol ก่อน ... ดีนะเราไม่ได้ดื่มมันเข้าไปโดยบังเอิญ (เพราะมันมี sd-alcohhol เยอะทีเดียว) ... เนื้อ toner ไม่เหลวเท่าที่ควร แต่ก็ไม่ได้ทำให้ผิวแห้งจนเกินไป (ไม่เหมือนพวก clinique toner) ... ถ้าไม่นับเจ้า alcohol ... toner ตัวนี้ก็โอเคดีนะ ... มันมีส่วนผสมที่ช่วยกักเก็บความชุ่มชื้น และให้ความชุ่มชื้น ใช้ได้เลย ... แล้วก็มี antixidant นิดหน่อย ... ใช้ได้หล่ะ




I almost finish a bottle of this softener now. My skin is a bit tight and dry but not too bad though. What I really like about this toner is that my face feels very soft and silky. It absorbs almost instantly. Well, that's what alcohol does!

I like it MUCH better that it comes in a cylinder plastic bottles not an ugly and awkward bottle.


ตอนนี้ใช้เกือบหมดขวดแล้วแห่ละ ... ผิวนุ่มดี แต่ว่ารู้สึกได้ว่า ผิวแห้งลง ... ตึงๆ นิดๆ (เวลายิ้มไรเงี้ยะ จะรู้สึกได้) แต่ก็ไม่ได้ถึงขนาดแย่ไปเลย ... แต่ถ้าใช้นานๆ คงไม่เอาอ่ะ ... ข้อดีของ toner ตัวนี้คือ มันทำให้ผิวนุ่มมากเลย ... รู้สึกเหมือนซึมเข้าสู่ผิวทันทีเลย ... ก็แหงแหล่ะ ... มี alchol เยอะออกขนาดนั้น

ส่วนขวดพลาสติกอันนี้ ... ธรรมดา แต่ดีอ่ะ ใช้ง่ายสะดวก practical ดี ... ไม่เหมือนตัว full-size ... ขวดบ้าอะไรก็ไม่รู้ ... เราไม่ชอบเลย

Unlike the enriched balancing softener N, this balancing softener (alcohol-free) gives me pretty much the same feeling with the one with alcohol without feeling tight or dry. It feels so nice and soft.


ส่วน softener ตัวนี ... ไม่มีส่วนผสม แต่อ่านจากที่ร้านมา ... มันไม่มี alchol ... จริงๆ เคยใช้ sample มาหลายทีแล้ว แต่ไม่เคยตัดใจซื้อได้ซักที ... เราว่าอ่ะ ... เป็น toner ที่แพงที่สุดในห้างแล้วอ่ะ (ในบรรดายี่ห้อ Estee, Clinique, Dior, Chanel, Biotherm, ... เทือกๆ นี้) ... ไม่นับพวกยี่ห้อไฮโซนะ ... ชอบ toner ตัวนี้มากเลยจริงๆ นะ ... ทาแล้วหน้านุ่มพลัมๆ ฉ่ำๆ ไปด้วยน้ำดี ... แล้วก็ไม่ระคายเคือง ไม่ทำให้ผิวหน้าแห้งตึงด้วยหล่ะ ... ชอบอ่ะ




This is not a good sign. Why?

Well, sooner or later I probably will find myself spending 50 bucks for a 150ml toner. How sad?


แต่ ... ไม่ดีเลยนะ

ทำไมเหรอ ... เราว่าเราต้องเสีย $50 ไปกับ toner ตัวนี้แน่เลย ได้แค่ 150ml เอง ... ราคาเดียวกับ emulsion (75ml) เลย คิดดูละกัน ... toner บ้าอะไรก็ไม่รู้

The next one is the day time protection emulsion N. I started using it the same time with the softener. I almost finish the tube now.

This emulsion contains significant amount of alcohol (which is bad) and some silicones (that give dry finish). Because of these ingredients, the emulsion seems to absorb very quickly -- almost instantly actually.

The texture is quite sticky and runny at the same time. It spreads on my skin very easily. It makes my skin quite dry but not too dry for the moment (but I'm sort of feeling that my skin is getting drier than usual).


อันต่อมาก็คือ emulsion ... ตัวนี้ spf15 เราเริ่มใช้พร้อมกับ toner แหล่ะ ... ก็เกือบหมดแล้วเหมือนกัน ... มามาในหลอด ใช้ง่ายดี

emulsion ตัวนี้มี alcohol ผสมอยู่เยอะใช้ได้เลย แต่ก็ไม่มากเท่า toner ตัวแรก ... ส่วนผสมที่เหลือ (ตัวหลัก) ก็เป็น silicones (เป็น silicones ที่แห้งเร็ว) ... ซึ่งทำให้เวลาทาแล้วเนี่ย แห้งเร็ว (รู้สึกเหมือนว่ามันซึมเข้าผิวเร็วเชียว) ... จริงๆ แล้วมันฉาบไว้มากกว่า ... แต่ฉาบดีนะ ไม่ ball-up เป็นขี้ไคลด้วย

เนื้อ emulsion มันค่อนข้างเหลว และเหนียว ... เหนียวหนึบติดหน้าเชียวแหล่ะ ... เกลี่ยง่ายมาก ... ถ้าไม่ออกนอกบ้าน เราทา toner และ emulsion ตัวนี้ .. จบ ... แค่นี้จริงๆ ... ช่วงนี้รู้สึกได้ว่ามันหน้าตึงๆ แห้งนิดหน่อย แต่ก็ไม่แย่อะไร ... รู้สึกว่าหน้ายิ่งแห้งลงๆ เรื่อยๆ (ขนาดช่วงนี้ฝนตกเกือบทุกวันนะเนี่ย ... อากาศก็ไม่หนาวไม่ร้อน ... 10C-15C กำลังดี




What I really like about this emulsion is that it instantly firm my skin. But it's just cosmetic (temporary) result -- like makeup base or some kinds.

The same rule still applies here. I love the plastic tube MUCH better than the ugly chubby bottle.

I think this emulsion can be good for someone with normal to oily skin who is looking for a moisturizer that "instantly" firms your skin. It's a pick me up or booster kind of moisturizer.

Since it comes with 75ml for $50 something, this is quite a good deal. It also comes with decent amount of antioxidant, humectant and water binder (that locks in moisturizer).

Remember that you will need to put on extra sunscreen though because it comes only SPF15 and can absorb only uvb.


สิ่งที่ชอบสำหรับ emulsion ตัวนี้คือ มันเหนียวแน่นดี ... คือทาปุ๊บ มันเคลือบ ฉาบผิวหน้าไว้หมดเลย ... ทำให้ผิวรู้สึกตึง ดึงดั๋งขึ้นมาทันทีเลย ... ก็เหมือนพวก makeup base หรือไม่ก็ primer อะไรทำนอกนี้ ... ใช้ทำตอนผิวห่อเหี่ยว หมดเรี่ยวแรง ตึงหน้าให้ตึงขึ้นมาได้ทันทีเลย

จริงๆ เราชอบหลอดพลาสติกมากกว่าไอ้ขวดอ้วนๆ ฝากลมๆ นั่นอีก ... แบบนั้นมันใช้ยากยังไงก็ไม่รู้ ... ลองนึกสภาพเวลามือเปียกๆ แล้ว emulsion มันใกล้หมดขวดดูดิ ... ปั๊ม เปิ๊ม ก็ไม่มีมา ... ทำไปได้

จริงๆ emulsion ตัวนี้น่าจะใช้ได้กับคนผิวธรรมดาถึงผิวมันนะ ... คนที่มองหาอะไรที่ช่วย firm ผิวแบบชั่วคราว ... คือฉาบผิวให้ดูดึ๋งดั๋งขึ้น ... ตัวนี้น่าลองดีค่ะ

อีกอย่างคื $50 แต่ได้ 75ml ... ถือว่าไม่แพง ... แล้วก็มีพวก antioxidant ในปริมาณพอใช้ได้ และก็มีพวกตัวให้ความชุ่มชื้นและตัวกักเก็บความชุ่มชื้นพอสมควร ... ก็ไม่เลยอ่ะ ... ถ้าตัด alchol ออก แล้วได้ texture แบบนี้ จะน่าสนมากกว่านี้เยอะเลย

แต่อย่าลืม ... ถ้าใครใช้ตัวนี้จะต้องทากันแดดเพิ่มด้วย เพราะตัวนี้มันกันได้แต่ UVB (ข้าหลอดที่ขายใน Canada นะ ... คืออ่านในเว็บ เค้าเคลมว่ามันกัน uva ด้วย ... แต่ดูส่วนผสมที่ได้มา และ active ingredients มันมีแต่ตัวที่กัน uvb เท่านั้น)

For the revitalizing emulsion, it's a bit too greasy for me though.


ส่วนครีมตัวนี้ ไม่วิจารณ์มากละกัน ... มันหนักไปอ่ะ ... ทาทีเยิ้มเชียว




I might give it another try in the coming fall or winter.


... เอาไว้จะลองใช้จริงๆ จังๆ อีกทีตอนอากาศหนาวๆ

I don't want to talk about the cream cleasing foam because it sucks -- it cannot even manage to clean (I mean CLEAN) the daytime protection emulsion (which is very sticky) but can manage to dry my skin.


ส่วนโฟมล้างหน้าตัวนี้ ... ไม่อยากจะพูดถึงมัน ... พูดได้คำด้วยว่า "ห่วย" ... ส่วนผสมระคายเคือง แห้งตึงมาก ... ใช้แล้วก็แห้งตึงมาก ... แต่มันแตะหน้าสองวิ (ไม่ต้องนวดถู) หน้าฝืดเอี๊ยดเลย ... แม้กระทั่ง emulsion ที่มาใน set เดียวกันมันยังเอาไม่ออกเลย ... มันยังฉาบหน้าอย่างเหนียวแน่น ... เราต้องเอา washcloth มาเช็ดออกช่วยกัน ... ไม่งั้นอุดตันแย่เลย

ส่วนใครมีกะตังเหลือ(เฟือ) ... ลองตัว balancing softener (alcohol-free) ตัวที่ไม่ใช่ enriched น่ะ ... ใช้ดีทีเดียวหล่ะ
