Chocolate Nut Drop Cookie Recipe Makes about 40 cookies
Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Ingredients:
2 squares of unsweetened chocolate 1 3/4 cups of sifted flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup butter or margarine 1 cup sugar 1 egg 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 3/4 cup chopped walnuts 1/3 cup milk Directions:
Melt the unsweetened chocolate in a double boiler or saucepan.
Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt.
Cream the butter and slowly beat in the sugar. Hint: Allow the butter to come to room temperature before creaming. Blend the butter and sugar well. Beat in the egg thoroughly.
Stir the melted chocolate into the creamed butter and add the vanilla and chopped nuts.
Add the sifted dry ingredients alternately with the milk, adding a little at a time. Stir until the cookie batter is well mixed.
Carefully drop by teaspoons on a greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.
Bake the cookies for 8 to 10 minutes. Since oven temperatures differ, be sure to check the cookies after 7 minutes.
Cool the cookies completely on a wire rack before frosting.
