Oxford is one of the university town in the UK (another city is Cambridge). Most of people who lives here is students. Oxford is situated in the South East region of England. If you followed me from the previous post, you would notice that I have moved to the right side of this island J Oxford is very close to London. It takes just around 1.5 hours by train from London to Oxford. 

The founders of many colleges are priests. So, you can find a church in almost every colleges which uses for praying or conducting other religious rituals. There are some churches that open for public. I will tell you later how gorgeous they are!

Pros and Cons of going to Oxford

Trip to Oxford requires low budget. Since most of the tourist places are education-related place, they’re not charge for the entrance fee. Except for some places that many tourists come, they are charged for the entrance fee. However, the fee is not that costly and you may use the student card for getting the discount.

It’s time to go to Oxford with me!

Local transportation in Oxford are bicycle and our own feet. Therefore, I walked and walked and walked to all planned places in Oxford.

The most important thing for this trip is this map. I didn’t have any internet connection while I was travelling in the UK. So, this map is only way I am able to know where I am. Stars in the map below locate all places in Oxford that I have visited. You can download the map here!

After arrived Oxford, I went to Asmolean museum first. This museum is a museum of Arts and Archaeology and is a part of the University of Oxford. This museum has many interesting collections about ancient arts. Moreover, it’s free. For more information click here

Bodleian Library is a main research library of the University of Oxford. It is one of the six legal deposit libraries for work published in the UK. It means that all published books in the UK must have at least one copy kept in this library. Wow!! It is opened for public, but on that day, I only took photos from the outside.

Museum of the History of Science records and collects many precious scientific and astronomy equipment. The “must see item” is the Einstein’s blackboard which he used when he gave lectures at the University of Oxford in 1931.

“Camera”means “Room” in Italian. Radcliffe camera is one of the most beautiful reading rooms of the University of Oxford. You can see from the outside that the architecture of this building is well-designed. I have heard that inside of this building is very beautiful as well. However, it’s not allowed for public unless you are a student of this university or joining the group tour.

It was raining on that day switching with the bright shining sun every 10 minutes. I had a very bad headache and need to take pills. This is the typical English weather that I must get used to. If you plan to come to the UK, please prepare you health to tackle with the weather!!

Raise your hand if you are a fan of Harry Potter! Many parts of Christ Church College have been used in filming the movies Harry Potter. The entrance fee is 7 Pounds which includes the entrance to the Cathedral and the Hall. The Hall is normally closed during 11.40 to 14.30.

I said “Oh my god” when I walked out the Hall and saw this grand courtyard. In the middle is the bell tower. There is a bell inside called “the Great Tom”. It rings 101 times every night at 9 pm.

It takes only 1 day to visit all places above. Let’s come to Oxford
