I am supposed to be out of town today (afternoon) and will be back here on Friday. I don't know if today is my (or our) bad day or what. We had two car accidents today. Gosh! There has been quite heavy snow all day long and the (not very low, about -9C) temperature made the snow quite wet. Some may know that wet snow makes the road very slippery (though different kind of slipperiness from black ice). Winter tires don't do much.
Anyway, the first accident happened at a traffic light junction. The light was red. We stopped the car and waited behind a gray Pontiac. The left-turn green light was then on (and the straight green light will soon follow). The Pontiac driver probably released the break (and so the red light on the back of his car went off). What a heck! We just did the same running straight to the gray Pontiac's bud. BANG! Damn it. Fortunately, the Pontiac looked fine. So we called it a deal. Nothing happened. But our car front bumper is broken (but not too bad). We decided that we will find a plate and attach it (instead of fixing it) to the bumper so the crack will not be noticeably visible. Ho ho ho. What a greed! This damn front bumper is so @#$% low quality. Believe it or not, a foam cup would be stronger than this bumper in term of strength! We just changed it not so long ago (but that time was not our fault). Here it goes AGAIN. I hate Ford!
That was the first one. I was thinking. Was that a sign? Should I postpone my "business" trip to next week? If I include my tummy ache, that would be two signs already.
On the way back from work, I wanted to drop by at Walmart for a quick shopping. On the six-lane road near a traffic light (before we made a right turn to Walmart), our car span (in the middle of the road) to 360 degree angle just like figure skaters spinning themselves on a rink. That is right. 360 degree angle. Gosh! That was very scary. It really freaked me out! I had never been in a spinning car before!
Thank all the good things I have done. There was no car coming toward us.
In the end, we got home ... safe and sound.
Who knows. With a weather condition like this, accident can happen. Whether these 2 accidents were "the sign" or not, I decided not to go today. Please wait for me, Sephora. I'll see you next week.
Phoebe
Just think of this song.
These are the days of the open hand They will not be the last Look around now These are the days of the beggars And the choosers
This is the year of the hungry man Whose place is in the past Hand in hand with ignorance And legitimate excuses
The rich declare themselves poor And most of us are not sure If we have too much But well take our chances Because God stopped keeping score I guess somewhere along the way He must have let us all out to play Turned his back and all gods children Crept out the back door
And its hard to love, Theres so much to hate Hanging on to hope When there is no hope to speak of And the wounded skies above Say its much too late Well maybe we should all be Praying for time
These are the days of the empty hand Oh you hold on to what you can And charity is a coat you wear Twice a year
This is the year of the guilty man Your television takes a stand And you find that what was over there Is over here
So you scream from behind your door Say whats mine is mine and not yours I may have too much But Ill take my chances Because God stopped keeping score And you cling to the things They sold you Did you cover your eyes when They told you That he cant come back Because he has no children To come back for
