Liverpool is a city in the North West Region of England. It is one of the major ports in the UK and is  famous for trading with other countries, both today and historically . Liverpool is well-known for its rich, varied culture and architecture heritage.Beside the two famous football clubs (Liverpool FC and Everton FC), it is the home of the world-famous music band “The Beatles”. Many areas in the city centre of Liverpool have been granted World Heritage Site status by UNESCO. How cool is that!?!?!?

However, I found it strange when I talked to my UK colleagues about Liverpool. They asked me “What did you do there?” “Are there any interesting places in Liverpool?” I was stunned for a while and kept telling them how much fun I had when I visited Liverpool J

Let’s go!

You can see from my itinerary that I took a train. Liverpool is in the North of the UK, so it is quite far from London. If you start from London, it will take you around 2.30 hours.

This price included a 1 hour-stadium tour and entry to the museum,where you can see many  trophies that Liverpool have won over the years, and find out about Liverpool FC’s history through an interesting exhibition. On the tour, they lead you to the press room, the home team dressing room and you even get to go on the field!

หลังจากชมสนามเสร็จแล้ว นั่งรถบัสกลับมาในตัวเมืองค่ะ ทานข้าวกลางวันกัน จากนั้นมุ่งหน้าสู่ Albert Dock อีก area นึงที่เป็น world heritage แต่ก่อนเป็นโกดังเก็บสินค้า และท่าสำหรับขนถ่ายสินค้าขึ้นและลงเรือ ตึกใน area Albert Dock นี้สร้างด้วยอิฐค่ะ จะเป็นตึกแดงๆสวยงามน่าถ่ายรูปเชียว ปัจจุบัน Albert Dock เป็นที่ตั้งของแหล่งท่องเที่ยว เช่น The Beatles Story พิพิธภัณฑ์รวบรวมเรื่องราวและประวัติของวงสี่เต่าทอง 

ราคาค่าเข้า 12.95 ปอนด์ค่ะ แพงนิดนึง แต่แนะนำว่าไหนๆมาที่นี่แล้ว แวะเค้าไปชมก็สนุกดีนะคะ โดยที่ราคาตั๋วนี้รวมค่าเข้า The Beatles Story ที่ Albert Dock และยังมีอีกส่วนของ The Beatles Story ที่ Pier Head ด้วย

After the stadium tour, I went back to the city centre and headed to Albert Dock, another of Liverpool’s famous attractions. Albert dock is preserved as a world heritage site. Formerly, Albert Dock was mostly warehouses and a sea port, but now, it’s made up of beautiful red-brick buildings,suitable for those who like to take photos. Albert Dock houses “The Beatles Story”, a permanent exhibition which records historical documents and famous works of the Beatles. It is said that those who come to The Beatles story will enjoy the journey through the lives, times, culture, and music of The Beatles.

The entrance fee costs 12.95 Pounds. This price includes the entrance fee for both The Beatles Story at Albert Dock and another site at Pier Head.

นอกจากนี้ที่ Albert Dock ยังมี Tate Museum สาขา Liverpool ด้วยค่ะ เสียดายที่วันนั้นปิดซะก่อนเลยไม่ได้เข้าไปชม ถ้าใครชอบศิลปะร่วมสมัย ก็ลองเข้าไปดูนะคะ..แค่ชั้นล่างก็สวยแล้ว ข้างในต้องมีงานศิลป์เก๋ๆเยอะแน่เลย

Moreover, Tate Museum (Liverpool branch) is situated at Albert Dock. It was so sad that I didn't have enough time to go inside. But after looking from the outside, I’m sure that there are many interesting and well-designed works in the museum.

เริ่มเย็นเราก็เดินเข้าไปในตัวเมือง Liverpool ค่ะ ระหว่างทางเราก็เดินริมทางเดินติดแม่น้ำ Mersey..area แถบนี้เค้าเรียกว่า Pier Head เป็นที่ตั้งของตึกราชการใหญ่โต สวยงามมาก ตึกหลักๆที่โดดเด่นได้แก่ Royal River Building, Cunard Building, และ Port of Liverpool Building ใครชอบถ่ายรูป ที่นี่ก็สวยนะคะ..นอกจากนั้น เราได้มีโอกาสแวะไปที่ Mathew Street ซึ่งเป็นที่ตั้งของร้าน Cavern Club ร้านที่วง the Beatles เคยเล่นอยู่ก่อนโด่งดังค่ะ

The area along the pier is called “Pier Head”. It is another world heritage site in Liverpool. You will see “The Three Graces”, a set of three beautiful buildings,which comprise of the Royal River Building, the Cunard Building, and the Port of Liverpool building. In addition, I went to the Cavern club on Matthew Street, where the Beatles used to play before they were famous.

ในเมือง Liverpool เราจะพบรูปปั้นหน้าตาแปลกๆ เหมือนน้องแกะ ตั้งอยู่ทั่วไปในเมือง ซึ่งแต่ละตัวไม่เหมือนกันนะคะ สมกับเป็นเมืองแห่งศิลปะจริงๆ โดยที่รูปปั้นนี้มีชื่อว่า "Superlambanana" ซึ่งก็คือการผสมกันระหว่าง แกะ และ กล้วย นั่นเอง  ผลงานชิ้นนี้ออกแบบ โดย Taro Chiezo ศิลปินชาวญี่ปุ่น ในงาน Art TransPennine Exhibition ปี 1998 แกะและกล้วยเป็นสินค้าสำคัญที่ค้าขายสมัยก่อนค่ะ การเอาทั้ง 2 สิ่งมารวมกัน ศิลปินผู้นี้ต้องการสื่อถึง "Future of 90' s Liverpool"

There is a weird sculpture in the city centre of Liverpool that draws the attention of tourists like me. This sculpture is called“Superlambanana”, a word combining  lamb banana!This sculpture was designed by a Japanese artist, Taro Chiezo, for the Art TransPennie Exhibition in 1998. The artist designed this work to represent the future of 90s Liverpool.
