Done!!!! Goodbye the greatest Chicago School..

The Chicago School

I finished my last final exam today and also submitted my final project for GIS class. The Econometrics is quite tough for an average student like me who does not have a God-given gift in mathematics. I just hope I could pass it, no matter what the grade will be, good or bad.

And so tomorrow will be my first convocation ever in my life (didn’t do it for my BA though), and a day after that I will fly back home to Thailand. With all my sincerity, I am not excited at all by the thought of going back home, although it’s been two years of parting from my beloved family and friends. I just feel like I need some more time to cherish every bit and piece of Chicago that I still lack of. Yes, I really really lack of..

See what I have missed in this Windy City.

**I have never visited any of the Museum Campus, including the Museum of Science and Industry that is about a ten minute walk from home and about less than five minute to jog to.
**I have never been to SEARs Tower nor John Hancock.
**I have never cruised the Chicago River.
My last time of visiting the Magnificent Miles was an age ago. An age before the last winter wind hit Chicago and people hibernate in their caves.

These are just a few of them, I still miss a lot of things worth doing in Chicago.

After exam, I walked across the Quads, passed all the Gothic Arches and Gargoyles. They seemed to be especially beautiful today and made me sad to think that I must leave this place forever with all great friends, good memories and everything. Today Chicago’s weather is great, the grass is green, students could not be any happier (they are done with final for most).

I will pack my desktop set and ship them to California tonight. So this could practically be my last blog from Chicago. For those of you in Bangkok, I hope to see you guys soon and I promise to come again with a cool, flashy and totally facelifted Blog. Thanks for your unfailing interest in my writings. I promise that I will come back with some cool pics from Convocation day ( will take a lot of pics with my friends who will receive PhDs, I like the maroon Chicago PhD gown so much. It’s very beautiful, sadly I won’t be able to wear it). Hope you guys have a great weekend.

P.S. Unlike other schools, Chicago has a tradition to have its own professors to speak at the convocation. This year’s 478th convocation will feature Prof.Cathy Cohen from Political Science department.

heheh... so happy to hear that you're done!!!! And don't worry about not having done those things, they'll still be here for ages! You can come back to visit ANYTIME! =) (But gotta say, I beat you on those things... =) Already been to the museums and sears tower. ;) Haven't done the cruise or been up the john hancock though. But well, I still have AT LEAST 3 years here. :)

Anyway... i have my first prelim today... in less than 4 hours!!!! please wish me lots and lots and lots of luck!!!!

(PS. when will you be in Stanford ka? I'm going to be in SF for a couple of days next month (around 15-19-ish.))

สวัสดีครับทุกท่าน

ตอนนี้มาถึงเมืองไทยโดยสวัสดีภาพแล้วครับ แต่คงต้องออกตัวก่อนว่าอยู่ที่นี่คงไม่ค่อยได้ update blog หรือใช้เวลากับ internet มากเท่าไร เพราะว่า connection ช้ามาก อีกอย่างเครื่อง computer ที่บ้านก็ไม่ค่อยสะดวกในการใช้เท่าไร ไม่เหมือนตอนอยู่อเมริกาที่ต้องใช้ชีวิตอยู่กับ computer ทั้งวัน แต่ก็ดีไปอย่างครับ มีเวลาทำอย่างอื่นที่มีประโยชน์มากขึ้น ตอนนี้อ่าน Da Vinci Code จบไปล่ะ 1 เล่ม

อยากบอกว่าอากาศร้อนมากครับ ผมออกไปวิ่งทุกวันตอนเช้า 6 โมง นี่เหงื่อท่วมตัวเลย วิ่งได้ไม่นานก็อึดอัดล่ะ ไม่ค่อยชอบอากาศแบบนี้เท่าไร สงสัยคงจะต้องใส่เสื้อแบบนักบาส ถึงจะวิ่งได้โล่ง ๆ หน่อย ร้อนมาก ๆ ค่าไฟก็เพิ่งจะขึ้นอีก โอ สุด ๆ เลย

ผมไม่ได้กลับมาสองปี รู้สึกว่าราคาสินค้าอะไร ๆ มันจะแพงไปหมดเลยนะครับ แพงจริง ๆ ไม่รู้ว่ามันยังไงกัน ไข่ไก่ ก็แพง เมื่อวานซื้อส้มโชกุน ถุงนึง ลืมดูราคา คิดว่าจะสัก ยี่สิบกว่าบาท แหม ปรากฏว่า 43 บาท ขนมวุ้นที่เป็นรถเข็น ถุงนึงมีสองชิ้นเล็ก ๆ ก็ 9 บาท ค่ารถเมล์ 5 บาท ไปกินฟูจิ แค่สองจานเล็ก ๆ เกือบ 500 วันนึงใช้เงิน เกือบ 500 นี่เป็นเรื่องปกติ ๆ เลยนะเนี้ย ขอบ่นหน่อย

ก็ขอให้ทุกท่านโชคดีนะครับ โดยเฉพาะน้อง noi ที่กำลังจะสอบ qual ของ Kellogg …Wish you all the best รวมทั้งคนที่ชิคาโกที่กำลังสอบ core มหาโหด ด้วย ขอให้สอบผ่าน ๆ กันให้หมดเลยนะครับ (ถ้าแอบอ่านอยู่)
