And the 2005 Nobel goes to
.Robert Aumann and Thomas C. Schelling, two big guys in game theory. I found one comment rightly speculate it 2 years ago in Brad Delongs blog.
Yes, Auman would make an
interesting choice as would Thomas
Schelling -- my favorite for the last few years. I don't suspect
either will win the prize since the Swedes have already given a gametheory award

We read the book Micromotive & Macrobehavior of Schelling in the PEPP class at Chicago. The reason could possibly be because the prof was a student of Schelling at PEG program, Harvard where Schelling spent 20 years there before moving to UMD. Its a good book to read .
Being a non-game theory enthusiast, I am not so familiar with Aumanns works at all. But I find his interview very interesting anyway. Also it has the picture of Schelling, Arrows and Aumann himself (the 3 laureates.. on page 24 of the short version / page 52 of long version )
Today I accidentally met another Chicago undergrad, a Singaporean girl with BA in Econ now doing 1 year Master here. And we had lunch. So there are 2 of them (Class of 2005) that I have found and try to connect them together. They just graduated this past June (same as me). Maybe I can establish a Maroon Club or something like that in this place.
I feel like Chicagoans have a connection. We can talk about Hype Park, the Reg, Cold Weather, professors, the Quads and stuff and feel good about it. Though we were likely whinning about them back then.
I still enjoy meeting or befriending with new students here. Its quite amazing to know people with such diverse backgrounds. My lunch group has David from Cornell, Jack from UCLA, Allizan from UChicago. And my study group has Rekha from Princeton/Harvard, Karma from Stanford, Tara from Delhi School of Economics (shes a very good student). The first week I had talked with Kentaro who goes to Philosophy dept from U of Tokyo, hoping to work with the legendary Richard Rotty. It always gets me excited to get to know interesting people.
I am taking first year Econ class equivalent to Price Theory Sequences at Chicago. Its quite hard for me though, this kind of MWG /proof is always hard for me. Maybe its because I am stupid really. Its quite a shame to think of where I come from and Ive felt my peers have overestimated me a bit. At first they think I might be the one who they can look up for help on PS. But they may know the truth now.
Better return to my work, there will be a midterm next 2 weeks. And I dont want to bring myself to shame by failing the first exam.
P.S.1 Today feeling stressed from sitting in the library's tiny cave I went outside and studied on the lawn, under the warm sun . Its a good feeling that I never had before (no surprise why students here are not so crazy about studying in the Library like UofCers who think of Reg as the only place to go to)
P.S.2 I am thinking about having my own domain name/ blog soon ( like nois blog) , with the planned interview section that I want to run in mind.
