The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences ได้ประกาศรายชื่อภาพยนตร์, นักแสดง และบุคคลในวงการ ที่ได้เข้าชิง
Academy Awards หรือ Oscars ครั้งที่ 96 ทุกสาขาออกแล้ว สำหรับครั้งนี้มีภาพยนตร์ญี่ปุ่นได้เข้ามาชิงรางวัลถึงสามเรื่องด้วยกัน
คือ "The Boy and the Heron เด็กชายกับนกกระสา (Kimitachi wa Dou Ikiru ka)" กำกับและเขียนบทโดย Hayao Miyazaki
แห่งสตูดิโอ Ghibli ได้เข้าชิงสาขาภาพยนตร์อนิเมชั่นยอดเยี่ยม (Best Animated Feature), "Godzilla Minus One" กำกับและ
