It is not easy for a person who is as vocal as I am to accept that "words fail me" ... so I am going to say it as it comes............
I will not attempt to speak on anyone's behalf...so I guess this is how it will go....
I look back....years and years back.....when I was your class mother....much as you all think you were so "grown up" and none of you needed anyone to take care of you.....yet, you were just babies....and you will always be "our babies" in our eyes.....
I am still fumbling ..searching in my head...to have an idea of what to say..bear with me....
As moms....what do we want of you....? Should I start here? Let's see how it goes....
What do I want from my own kids?
In the past I used to worry about them so much I didn't even know what I wanted from them...but here are the things i used to say and do.........
I used to tell them ten thousand times a day that I love them....in case I never get to say it ever again...till they told me to stop because "the mom's warmth" was getting overwhelmingly HOT and suffocating.
I kept telling the two of them "Remember that if I'm not around you have each other."
Every morning ...while boarding and loading the buses for field trips....all the mom's and dad's looking concerned...letting their babies go off on their first excursion....
I remember sharing with your mom "tales upon tales" ..... worries and laughs....
There were times I joined the crowd.....and come home to the kid's empty beds....The house is so empty without them....Life STOPS when our children are not in the house......
The night the kids come home, when they turn in...I used to sneak into their bedrooms and watch them in their sleep....and pray that they are watched over and protected.......
That's what mom's do.... That what our instincts tell us to do.... to protect our babies.... as they are OUR LIVES..........
BUT without us... we want them to go on...prosper... and become an asset to their society and the world.....
