Ham and Parmesan Bread
I'd got some leftover ham and bacon lying and waiting for a rescue from being thrown into a rubbish bin... And thanks myself for making an effort in order to use them all up instead of wasting like I often do !
With a hard work on searching for a recipe through internet and some cookbooks, I finally managed to mix few recipes to create this bread...
Honestly speaking, there is nothing special though... I just mixed and kneaded some parmesan cheese into a dough rather than sprinkling it over at a shaping stage. Also the way I shaped is a bit different from a normal method I always do...
As for the taste..it is more like western style bread than asian ( in fact, Japanese!) ...forget about it if you prefer a really soft and fluffy bread to a moderate soft and chewy one !
Ingredients:
For the dough
30 ml lukewarm water 1/2 tsp active dried yeast 1 tsp plus 1/4 tsp sugar 1/4 tsp salt 200g white strong bread flour 25g grated parmesan cheese 100 ml lukewarm milk 15g butter 1/2 egg, beaten
For the filling
2 pieces cooked ham, torn 3 rashers smoked bacon, torn
For topping
some cornmeal some beaten egg + water
Bake in the preheated oven (200c) for about 20 minutes..
