Rep Rows 1 and 2 10 times more, ending with a RS row. Pick up 7 sts from the left side of the instep. K13 that have been held on the needle. P30, pick up 7 sts from the right side of the instep. P13 sts that have been held on the needle - 50 sts K 6, 8 or 10 rows (3, 4 or 5 ridges on the RS). More rows will give you a deeper bootie, which is good for bigger or chubbier babies.
Decrease Foot Row 1: K2, k2togtbl, k19, k2tog, place marker, k2togtbl, k19, k2tog, k2 - 46 sts Rows 2, 4, 6: Knit Row 3: K2, k2togtbl, k17, k2tog, slip marker, k2togtbl, k17, k2tog, k2 - 42 sts Row 5: K2, k2togtbl, k15, k2tog, slip marker, k2togtbl, k15, k2tog, k2 - 38 sts
You may BO here leaving a long tail and sew seam in the sole of the bootie and sew the back seam as well. Or use a bind off that doubles as a seam:
Final row and bind off: k19, fold bootie in half, RS together. Use a crochet cast off or a three needle bind off starting at the tip of the toe. When done cut a long tail and use it to sew the back seam. Turn right side out. Run an 18" length of ¼" ribbon through eyelets or make a twisted cord: Take a piece of yarn about 4 feet long and tie the two ends together with a slipknot. Holding the knot between your fingers hook the yarn over your big toe, the finger of a willing friend, or a similar post. Holding the yarn relatively taut, roll the knot between thumb and forefinger until it begins to twist on itself. Holding the knot firmly, take the other end of the yarn from your toe and bring the folded end and the knotted end together. Smooth the cord with your finger to make it twine evenly. Tie a slipknot on each end. You may trim the ends with scissors to make them more uniform and attractive (like mini-tassels). ************************************************

Instructions: Sole: CO 48 sts with yellow. Work K 1 roundP 1 round for 6 or 7 garter stitch ridges. (Use 7 ridges for a slightly wider fit, better suited to well-fed babies.) While working the last P round, place marker in center at 24 sts from beginning (where the tail of the yarn is).
Upper: Join white yarn. K to within 3 sts of marker. Work 2 sts together, K 1, pass marker, K 1, work 2 sts together (use a decrease stitch that gives you symmetrical left-right slants), finish round. Work another round in white the same way. Twist white with yellow yarn, and work 2 rounds in color in the same manner. Keep working 2-round stripes, working decreases each round. After the 3rd white stripe, break off white yarn. Work one more K round in yellow, ending at heel. (26 sts remain)

Knitting Pattern For Short Row Slippers These knit slippers use short rows for a much better fit than most slippers.
There are many variations possible. Knit them up in one color or use up your stash and knit in stripes.
They fit most woman. For babies use one strand of baby weight yarn and size 3 US needles. CO 44 sts and complete using the pattern below, but knit in garter stitch for only 1 inch.
Gauge: 14 sts=4"
Materials: One strand of bulky weight yarn or two strands of worsted weight held together Size 9 US (5.5 mm) needles
Instructions
CO 48 sts. P every row in garter stitch for 2 inches (approx 12 rows). End with WS facing you (your choice as to which side will be the WS). Introduce second color (if desired) and P across row. K next row, then P next row. With RS facing, begin first set of decreasing row as follows:
Dec Row Part 1: K18, k2tog 3 times, place marker to designate middle of slipper, k2tog 3 times, K1, turn (turn work around so you are now on the WS or purl side of the slipper). Dec Row Part 2: P8, turn (turn work around again to RS or knit side of work). Dec Row Part 3: K8 (you will see a gap), pick up the base of the right needle's last K st and add it to the left needle, now knit the st to the left of this new st with the newly placed st together (this decreases the st you just added, but also fills in the hole that would have been created by the gap). K across remaining sts.
This is the same as Make One (M1) except you are using the wrap at the base of the last K st on the right needle and not picking up a st between the left and right needle. Sounds complicated, but just give it a try. It's not necessary and if you want to skip this step you can. You will have a slight hole on the left side of the slipper for each dec row however. Next Row: Purl
Repeat the 3 part Dec Row and purl row 3 times more, knitting across to 6 sts before marker, changing colors as desired.
On last Dec Row, inc 1 st at the beginning and end as follows to allow for a larger cuff:
Last Dec Row: K1, inc 1 (k in front and back of next st) to avoid a gap, do the Dec Row as above by knitting to within 6 sts of marker and k2tog 3 times, slip marker, k2tog 3 times, k1, turn.
When you have finished all 3 parts of the last Dec Row, then p1, inc 1 (P in front and back of next st), p across remaining sts (26 sts).
Begin Ribbing: K1, p1 loosely across for 12 Rows. Bind off loosely.
Sew up cuff, heel, and foot.
If you want you can spray the bottom of the slippers with any nonskid spray that is washable for better traction. ************************************************
