We were with Shasa until her last breath. It was a difficult decision for us. On one hand, she hasn't lost her appetite and will eat everything. She still loves her walks and her tails are still wagging all the time. Nothing really changed. On the other hand, the tumor on her nose has gotten so big that it was beginning to encroach on her left eye to where it is barely open. It's also bothered her so much that she kept scratching it so that it's bleeding and getting infected.
The doctor who treated her since she's a puppy recommended it was time to put her down and although we thought the same, we couldn't make that decision on our own. So in the end we listened to her doctor. He first injected her with medicine to put her to sleep. After she fell to sleep in about 10 minutes, he injected with more medicine (essentially an overdose). She stopped breathing and her heart stopped shortly after. We both cried and gave her a kiss before we left her in the doctor's office.
They will cremate her and send us her ashes in a few days. We plan to scatter her ashes around the park where she loved to walk and play.
When I came home today, the house was dark without Shasa waiting for me at her usual spot on top of the steps to get her milk bones. It's was just very quiet. The house is very quiet now, even when we sleep, we don't hear her breathing or snoring. Janice does not have to wake her up in the morning and go for a walk. Our schedule has completely changed after 11 years with her.
So it will take some getting use to for this is the first time since Janice and I have been together in 16 years, that we don't have Jay nor Shasa living with us. It's a very strange feeling.
Anyway, I hope you get the picture attachments of my new Jaguar XKR. It's dark grey metallic with cream color interior. It is very fast (420 horse power and 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds. It costs about $100k here in the US. Not sure how much it would cost in Thailand.
