Personal Commitment and My Children:

================================================

I was born in Thailand. I have great chances given by the country to explore and extend horizons. By that, I know myself more and more.

I have great friends, career, and society, partly from my academic excellence propelling me in this stage.

I feel truly grateful with my country.... And, I will give and devote myself into it--- as my personal commitment...

I will adhere with my career in education with my firm belief that I could do something to make my country a better place.

This is my post.... a personal post...

As a father, I've seen on-going situations in my home country with apprehension---deeply worried....

From a coup to the recent "court" decisions, they have clearly shown that there will be nothing fair and systematic happened in my beloved home country.

Reasoning in this country has never come, particularly in the utmost critical time in our society...

From this, I may not be able to see "a sensible, peaceful society" in the land I love.... nor a prosperous future for the next generations and beyond...

I love my country by heart, but I love my children too... I can foresee a bad future in our country, by that, I cannot push my children into such worriedsome situations.

I will still commit myself into my ideology, but any of that will not be passed into my children. If they choose to end it, let it be that way.

I think they would make a right decision for themselves. And, I will be proud of it.

There will be no regrets. Let it end here at myself and my time.

What happened was a shame. But nothing surprises me any more. Really.

Take care.

Just got a chance to visit your blog ka (after spending most of my time discussing political issues with friends on prachatai webboard, on which sadly cannot access today).

I truly understand what you feel. Deeply, I feel quite sad of coming back to Thailand as well. I have never expected that the military will come back and rip-off our freedom and human right once again.

Glad to see you here again.

My brother would like to stay in Sydney after his graduation. Actually we all miss him and want him to be around here but we just respect his decision. Everyone has their one reason to do so. :)

I respect your decision ka.

I don't buy it!

The country gave opportunity ... of course the country expected something in return ... of course from you.

Except the words you said, I see nothing but the fact that you left your "beloved country".

You are not doing anything to make the country a better place.

Do you know what I see here? You chose to do for nothing for the country but yourself.

Don't blame the system or someone else!!!

What I see here is just that ... the country gave an opportunity to the wrong person. Period!

Dear k. I don't buy it:

Well, first of all, I respect your comments.

But, I can argue that I DID many things for Thailand, and continue to do it. So your conclusions in this regard about me is somewhat unfair and premature.

The point that I want to make is, although I will serve Thailand, but I will not encourage my children to do it.

Why?

Because I don't BELIEVE that Thailand can be a safe place for them to grow up within happily. In our society, there are too many loopholes and unidentified powers which people can use and exploit. I can live with it and prosper without any problems, but I'm not quite sure that what the future will be in that country.

Thus, I will respect my children's decisions.... whatever decisions they make, I will not stop them.

If they choose to be in Thailand or elsewhere, it will be OK for me either way.

One more thing for K. I don't buy it:

I cannot force anyone to like or dislike something or someone per se.

Similarly, I cannot force you to convince or disagree with my writings. It's your judgement and decisions.

Same thing, I let my children to make their own decisions. If that irritates you, I cannot help.

Sorry?

No.... not at all...

Regarding the country's decisions to award me a scholarship, it's not your job to judge me either. Let time prove me and my integrity.

My job is to serve Thailand as stated in the contract, but I more than convince that I could do more than that.

I don't care that you're going to believe it or not...

It's not my business to judge you and your opinions. I'm already busy enough.... :)

Thank you for stopping by though.

Note: My life has been intertwined with works and many others. New responsibility has emerged, resulting less and less time for my ordinary life. Although, a love to write is still intact... But having less time is related to having less imagination.... Therefore, I could not come up with new writings for quite some times.

It might be a good time for me to leave this forum for moment.... Please take it as Mr. A.T. is having a sabbactatical leave or something like that....

As noted above, my love to write is still the same... and will not be changed. Sometimes somehow, I hope I could come back and give some thoughts in this blog once more.

Cheers,
Mr. A.T.

=================================

Hello,

My pen-name in Pantip is amatuer translator. Actually, I'm a lousy translator with lame translation. My pen-name is somewhat misleading, I have no background in linguistics what-so-ever. Anyway I love to read, write and communicate with people...

Reading is my most favorite hobby. I read everything from shopping bags to articles in theoretical physics. I do research and teaching for my living. So, reading, writing, thinking and doing research works are my everyday routine.

I would like to define myself as a person who is accepting new ideas and adopting those into my way of life.

I believe in power of knowledge/education. I think every society can be a better society with knowledge. Ignorance can be dispelled by it. Humanity can live sustainably and harmoniously with each other along with its biosphere with understandings in the nature surrounding it.

Apart from my philosophical thoughts reflecting who I am, I can tell you something I like or love in particular;

I love dogs.... Particularly, labradore retrievers.... One day, I would like to spend my time and life with them as a big part of my family.

Zhuge Liang is my hero. With his wisdom and faithfulness, he led a tiny army to a mighty and formidable kingdom. He left his humble residence with a hope to come back. But, sadly, he had never returned and died far far away from home in a horse carriage in a battle field. If I could choose where I would, I would say where-ever my lovely wife was nearby.

I value happiness and my family as my first priority. My profession and my philosophy come in the second. Pursuit in wealth has never been in my desire.

I'm glad to be your friend, and look forward to seeing you around krub.

Best wishes,
A.T.
