A Male Predominant Society: Enjoying Men's Games but Lonely
==============================================
I just watched the CNN International a minute ago. There was a scoop from Germany, to be strictly correct the Eastern part of Germany.
In many cities in this part of the country, the number of male residents was around 25% more than their female counterpart.
As a result, these men were enjoying their favorite games in their favorite pubs night after night afternoon after afternoon.... But there were not enough girls for them to marry to!!
They're desperate!!
Is this a problem?
Of course, it is.... Although these men are "conquering" the cities, but there is no fun without having girls nearby... Am I right? :)
Well, the problems were collective results of incompetency in education among men. Basically, in the regions, girls excelled in academics and left the boys behind. As a result, girls had gotten into higher education while boys ended up with highschool education.
Year after year of this bizarre problem, girls began to move on with their lives to a city where it could provide them with more challenges and opportunities----elsewhere.
Boys?
They're still having fun in their pub, cheering soccer on Saturday nights, playing pool in the pubs, working day by day in their very same city, while the girls were enjoying their new lives in other more prospering cities.
The story sounds pretty familiar to me though.... Lately, I notice that, in Thailand, numbers of girls in medical schools, engineering schools and many others are skyrocketting.... This alarming trend might have set a social problem (or already had happened yet unnoticed) soon similar to those happening in Eastern Germany...
Anyway I don't blame the girls whose seek better lives for themselves.... The bottomline is, "boys suck"!! :)
The report reminds me of the news I watched a month or so ago. It's about a federal attempt to increase the number of children in a small part of Russia. What did they do? Well, they created a "Conception Day." Basically a couple would have a day off--and have sex... If their baby is born exactly 9 months from now (if the memory serves me right, that day would be the national day), the family would get a gift from the government, such as a car.
The population is really dwindling in Europe, I guess. In an alarming rate...
In this case how would the government intervene, perhaps? The boys are the culprits? hahaha...It's just getting interesting. I remember when I was a kid people always believe that generally men are (genetically) smarter than women... But look what now? Women rule!
Thank you for inviting me to read this article na ka.
Being a girl in the current society is also pretty strange. Guys seem to be a bit afraid of having relationship with a girl with higher profile... hurr...
When I was in highschool which has been always ranked defaultedly as #1 in the country, there were 30 male classmates and 20 female classmates.
During college years, in my class, numbers of male students were still higher (87:78). Similar trends were also observed in medical schools and engineering schools throughout the country.
Few years passed, the trends have reversed.
To answer k. r k i 's question about acceptance, well personally I'm absolutely OK and accepting intelligence among girls. And I found that would be more beneficial than harmful.
Anyway, for the Thai society in general, it might not be that liberal. It may take some time until we have absolutely equal "rights" between the two genders.
Well, men and women may never be "equal" as long as there are people like me.
In a nutshell, I want it all: a fabulous career and an Alpha male to be proud of. Why date/marry a wussy when you can date/marry an ambitious, confident, charming, and brilliant man? I definitely don't want to be more intelligent than the man I'm with. If you're smart, you don't date/mary a loser.
But being an alpha male doesn't give him a license to be an ass. OK. Maybe occasionally. But not 24/7. You know what I mean. And he has to be loving, caring, understanding, and make more money than I can spend.

================================= Note: My life has been intertwined with works and many others. New responsibility has emerged, resulting less and less time for my ordinary life. Although, a love to write is still intact... But having less time is related to having less imagination.... Therefore, I could not come up with new writings for quite some times.
It might be a good time for me to leave this forum for moment.... Please take it as Mr. A.T. is having a sabbactatical leave or something like that....
As noted above, my love to write is still the same... and will not be changed. Sometimes somehow, I hope I could come back and give some thoughts in this blog once more.
Cheers, Mr. A.T. June 6th, 2008

Hello,
My pen-name in Pantip is amatuer translator. Actually, I'm a lousy translator with lame translation. My pen-name is somewhat misleading, I have no background in linguistics what-so-ever. Anyway I love to read, write and communicate with people...
Reading is my most favorite hobby. I read everything from shopping bags to articles in theoretical physics. I do research and teaching for my living. So, reading, writing, thinking and doing research works are my everyday routine.
I would like to define myself as a person who is accepting new ideas and adopting those into my way of life.
I believe in power of knowledge/education. I think every society can be a better society with knowledge. Ignorance can be dispelled by it. Humanity can live sustainably and harmoniously with each other along with its biosphere with understandings in the nature surrounding it.
Apart from my philosophical thoughts reflecting who I am, I can tell you something I like or love in particular;
I love dogs.... Particularly, labradore retrievers.... One day, I would like to spend my time and life with them as a big part of my family.
Zhuge Liang is my hero. With his wisdom and faithfulness, he led a tiny army to a mighty and formidable kingdom. He left his humble residence with a hope to come back. But, sadly, he had never returned and died far far away from home in a horse carriage in a battle field. If I could choose where I would, I would say where-ever my lovely wife was nearby.
I value happiness and my family as my first priority. My profession and my philosophy come in the second. Pursuit in wealth has never been in my desire.
I'm glad to be your friend, and look forward to seeing you around krub.
