Mike: i actually don't remember what those are...they're not other songs i think!!

Fans: Hey Mike My Q for you is that what made u decide to have what ive done in an california desert? Thanks Mike

Mike: we filmed the video for what i've done in el mirage because the desert scene related to the lyrics and because it fit in with the themes of the video (the stock footage)

Fans: hey mike, on the FM site you once said you were doing a track with big daddy kane, will that ever get released, if not, any other fm tracks gonna get released?

Mike: we never did the track with kane...i wish we had! we didn't have any disagreements about it, the timing just didn't work out. but there is a song on the new SOB album that sounds like an old school kane track. it's REALLY dope

Fans: mike, judging by the what ive done video, you guys have gotten more into vintage equipment, can we expect to see new guitars/amps/etc. on tour? and also, did you guys experiment with different tunings more on this album?

Mike: our guitar tunings on the new LP album are more standard, actually. we used to tune down all the time, but tuned it back up for this one. different songs called for different things, though--we may have tuned differently for a part or two that i'm not remembering

Fans: Hi Mike! my questions are: Will you release another FM cd? when? and, its true that youre going to sing more in MTM? greetings from Mexico

Mike: releasing another FM CD: i don't have plans right now...i've been helping STYLES OF BEYOND with their album tho. that should be out this summer! it's called ROCKET SURGERY

Fans: Hey Mike! I was wondering if you could tell me what your favorite energy drink is!? Thanks, and I am a huge fan!

Mike: hahaha, don't really drink them much! i guess coffee gives me energy. maybe red bull sometimes thanks

Fans: hi mike. i just wanted to say "what I've done" has now become one of my favorite songs and videos of LP because it's so deep and i wanted to ask if there are any more songs on the album like it. thanks - Lupe from chi-town

Mike: as for the songs, i think there's a ton of variety on the record, so just expect to be surprised from song to song. every one is different.

Fans: Hey what's up Mike? My Qs are: how similar are the rest of the songs in MTM with What I've Done (i luv it!)? can we expect deeper lyrics? btw, it'd be cool for u guys to come to Mexico again! lol

Mike: we spent about 17 months on this record, and were wroking on lyrics and vocals for at least 9 months. i think it's a more vocally driven record...

Mike: i ended up writing more and chester ended up singing more. he really liked the stuff i was writing (lyrically) and i loved how he was singing, so it was just a natural switch.
there's a little bit of rapping too, and i sing lead on one song. harmonies on the rest.

Fans: hey mike!! my names parth. so any plans for more FM touring? sry if this sounds cheesy, but youre my biggest music inspiration haha. because of LP/FM i picked up singing, lyrics, guitar and painting. thanks a lot for that haha!! just had to let you know {laugh_smiley}

Fans: Will the Militia ever get any new exclusive content? Many people renewed their memberships because exclusive content was promised! We've been lost without you! Where'd you go? {tongue_smiley}

Mike: militia exclusive content: i wanted to do this chat because i knew that there's not that much FMM content right now, but you'll be getting more when there's something to have...maybe a little SOB related stuff, maybe a little LP related stuff...i'm not 100% sure what it'll be, but i'll try to get you guys whatever i can!

Fans: Sup Mike? My question is; Seeing as the album cover of Minutes To Midnight is you guys standing somewhere quite peaceful, does that say anything about the songs on the record? If so, what? Greetings from Michigan!

Mike: the cover photo felt more classic/timeless than anything we had done before--and since the album kinda feels that way, we thought it was appropriate. i want to say vintage, but that's not right either--it just feels like it doesn't belong in just one time
period

Fans: Hiya Mike! We've seen a number of new images for promoting Minutes to Midnight that are considerably different in style than previous looks. Sorta retro black and white Will all of the album art in this fashion?
Mike: we tried to make the album art match the music, so there's a lot of variety. we got some paintings from guys like phil hale, ekundayo, and usugrow which were really great...

Fans: Hi Mike! I absolutely LOVE your artwork... it's a huge inspriation to me. How will it tie in with simplicity of the new album stlye? Much love from the UK!!

Mike: i didn't paint anything this time for the artwork

Fans: what up, mike. So what's with the facial fur? Statement or plain laziness? Much love from the South East Asian crew! Send our love to the SOB guys, will ya?

Mike: "facial fur" that's amazing. i just have a beard. a thin one (asian hair pattern) but it's scruff, nonetheless. i don't know why.

Fans: First off, I must say Mike, Kenji is probably one of my favorite songs simply cause its so deep and meaningful, keep up the good work. I don't really have any questions, just wanna say kudos on all you have done with LP and FM

Mike: kenji...thanks, i'm still really proud of that song.

Fans: Mikeyboy! maybe a bit off-topic, but what's your favorite TV shows at the moment? Like..do you have time to follow series like Prison Break and such? ...and you guys are awesome..thanks.

Mike: TV shows: rob and big when it's on, sarah silverman...waiting for new sopranos. saw 300--it was awesome

Fans: how do you think youve grown as an artist, both musically and artistically these past years? youve inspired so many to pursue their dreams with what you do.

Mike: as for growing as an artist, i just keep trying to learn new methods of writing and recording. it's all just experimentation and making stuff that sounds cool, to me. i think i'm probably more in-tune to the random happy accidents of recording now

Fans: Hey Mike! Big hug to you from all Ukrainian fans waiting for you to come here. When are you going to make any contests, or LPST offline membership, or iTunes LPTV, WID video and mp3 available to non-US citizens? Don’t you need to be promoted outside of US?

Mike: the contests / etc. being limited to US is mostly because of tech issues or logistical issues...if those problems go away, we'll do those things worldwide. i'd love for you guys to be able to buy LPTV on iTunes outside the states, for example.

Mike: cheese quoestion: very strange, i don't usually eat a lot of cheese, but we made something the other night with gruyere (sp?) in it, and that was damn good. i always wished that star tours at disneyland went to endor instead of that dumb asteroid thing. and the WHOLE album was fun. ha

Fans: hey mike first of all congratiulations for WID. one of your best songs ever and the best vid in your band history! we'll see in HAMBURG!!! greetz from Germany! MY QUESTION: what will be on the dvd in the MTM Special Edition?

Mike: THE DVD ON SPECIAL EDITION IS AMAZING!!! seriously, LPTV and the "making of" DVD are the two best things behind the scenes things we've ever done. you have to see them. actually, we didn't even "Do" them--its our buddy mark. he did a great job.

Fans: Hi Mikey. Are any of the songs on the new LP record influenced by other songs and if so, what songs? And do you miss to perform FM stuff?

Mike: influences on this record were less about other bands, and more about just messing around until we came up with something. i was listening to a ton of music: led zeppelin, U2, ministry, barry white, run dmc, old ice cube, rakim, the police, hendrix, the cars, 80s synth pop, 70s psychadelic, prog stuff, industrial, ...tons of music!

Fans: hi. mike i am an artist and you really inspire me (your my role model as chezzy as that sounds lol) with your art. could you give me some advice. thanx

Mike: artist advice: study as many forms of it as you can. you can learn from other disciplines in a way that will help your art. try as many new things as possible, and be open to criticism. it's usually the criticism that makes you the most angry that really strikes a nerve, and could end up being the most helpful.

Fans: hi mike - it was great seeing both LP & FM in Japan last summer (*spanks for no M&G* at the summersonic shows!) - anyways, I'm wondering if you'll be performing any FM songs during the upcoming LP tour? Also, please shave {smile_smiley}

Mike: FM songs on LP tour: not sure at this point...i would say it's unlikely. but you never know! by the way, the Styles Of Beyond album is a must for all FM fans...it's going to be so amazing. apathy and celph titled are on it as well. they even did a track with RZA from wu tang clan, and got a beat from the late great J-Dilla. its seriously going to be a classic.

Fans: Every song make me dream, and fly… every note, word, rhyme is my inspiration…how can you be so good? What’s your inspiration? You are a really rapper! I have heard that you will do a song with eminem… It will be a very good song!! MIKE AND EMINEM!!

Mike: w em? that must be a rumor...sorry! he's great though. as far as my inspirations go, it could be anything. it could be things in the world around me or a book i read...anything

Fans: hey mike, im aaron, big fan, anyway What is the meaning of the "What I've Done" Video?

Mike: most of the things on the minutes to midnight album work in layers of meaning. there's no single correct theme for anything, i think. but there are themes that i know are there...for example the video

Mike: like the album title, is about death and rebirth. you could apply that concept to a part of your life, to a relationship, even to our band...but the video works on a level that's aware of the world and our power to build or destroy it.

Fans: Mike i got one "Accidental Crossdresser Fine Art Print" and it's an amazing piece of art;. congratulation... do u plan exhibition anywhere else in the world in the future ????(may be PARIS, France ??) ????? - Graig From France

Mike: alright, i think i'm going to take off then. if you want to know what LP things i am most excited about right now, besides the single and video, i thin LPTV is amazing. i hope you all get to see it and enjoy...there is a part where joe re-enacts a dance scene from flashdance. one of my favorite parts.

OH YEAH there are going to be THREE version of the album when it comes out...
1.) standard edition
2.) special edition: a CD + "making of" DVD combo in a (dope) little bound package (shaped like a little diary book), and
3.) a BIG BOOK, about the size of the "making of meteora" book--it's huge, with big amazing photos and all the info on the making of the album, PLUS it has the CD + "making of" DVD INCLUDED. that one is more expensive, but it's worth it...

the #3 is available only online, so all the die-hard LP fans shoul check for it
