"Step away from the bike!" นั่งยิ้ม "how'd it get burned? HOW'D IT GET BURNED! HOWDITGETBURNED!! HOWDITGETBURND!!!"

Kramer vs. Kramer และ A Place in the Heart
btw, I think I might just post this mini review here
(if you don't mind, and of course you won't.. so, I'll go ahead.. ok)
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
I failed to see this as a vast improvement over the first one (which I gave it C+). But it is still an improvement from The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.
(I watched LWW right before I went to see Prince Caspian)
The action got better, the battle at the end was great though nothing impressive (2x better than the final battle sequence in the first one). The Pevensie children (I mean, all 4 actors who play the roles) are much better here than they were in the first one. All of them, really, especially, William Moseley. He wasn't as bad as what I've heard of. Ben Barnes was good. Unfortunately, because of his bland-written character, nothing impressive to talk about. Oh, except his hot-ness.
While I didn't like the first one because of its too kid-friendly tone (and everything). This one wasn't much better because of its clumsy script and loosen-focused directing. I believe the first one did a much better job for the script part. The cheesy dialogue is still here, and still unbearable as well. So, no matter how good the actor was (Peter Dinklage!!), or how hard my lovely Barnes had tried, the film falls apart. The crazy thing is, it feels quite long but at the same time, I feel like I didn't have enough time with the characters like Trumpkin (Dinklage's character), Reepicheep or Edmund (played by the most impressive actor of all Pevensie children, Skandar Keynes) or even Prince Caspian himself whom I feel like wasn't given enough time for me to care anything about him. I might be blinded by Barnes's hotness. But I refuse to believe this was partly Barnes's fault. It was the clumsy script that spent half of the time with stupid boring politic sub-plot than its character. The first half hour, when the action scene hadn't started to pop up yet, was so boring.
And that kiss scene, it's 'eww'. I 'eww' with that scene not because I couldn't stand watching Barnes kissing someone who's not me. But that scene was totally 'off', as if it comes out from no where. It's not because of that scene itself. But because of this romantic sub-plot had never been well-developed. So, when this scene arrived, I couldn't help but felt 'WTF'.
I should stop now. It almost sounds like I hate this film while I didn't really. Actually, that's all what I dislike about this movie. But I have to admit, if not for Barnes or had I not been so obsessed with battle-epic flick, Prince Caspian would surely rank not far from the first one in my book.
But well, while no great film here, there were still other many things for me to watch and prevent me from being dreadfully bored.
And thanks for such an impressive & fun review (so, u wanna kiss that "Barnes" guy, right? 55+). Actually, I haven't seen it yet, but a lot of my friends said that its quality just barely adequate. And just like u, they said that all the actions were much improved, but (so-called) "magic" was totally gone. So...what's magic anyway? Maybe my friends just wanna sound cool (55+). And maybe I have to check it out by myself once and for all.
ps. I will also post this in ur blog, in case you happened to miss it 55+
Well, IMHO, 'Prince Caspian' played out very much as an epic rather than a fantasy like the first one. I really have no idea where this 'the magic is gone' comment comes from. Maybe they meant; the wondrous, which is, as I mentioned, not such a surprise. 'Prince Caspian' is not a fantasy adventure, a story about discovery a new land. It's an epic/war/fantasy (imagine LOTR with Christian theme all over it).
And, IMO, the second book (Prince Caspian) was weak. At least not as strong as the 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe'. And how the film-makers have adapted the 'Prince Caspian' book to the 'Prince Caspian' movie is surprisingly impressive in some parts. Like, what should be left out from the book or what should be added on into the film. What they have failed is how to control the pacing. How to develop some of its sub-plots to be really effective or at least, engaging.
So far, this series has been not as good as it could have been. But it certainly could have gone much worse.
^ ^ Let me remind u, I have yet to see this film, so this comment is purely based on my opinion haha...
Well, I can see ur point about "the magic", and I think I have to agree with u on this one. Maybe "the magic is gone" also means that the film is not so wondrous in a second time around. It's like when I saw first three Star Wars and I thought "This is such a groundbreaking!" And then Lucas decided to make another three sequels which I think it's completely unnecessary. I mean it's the same characters and environment that we used to see but, as I said, the magic was gone.
So that's bring to the conclusion about my friend comment and urs. You said that it's bare a resemblance to LOTR's epic proportion. Maybe my friend linked his vision between those two franchise and thinking that he has seen it all before. Why bother to see them again?
Lastly, in my not-so humble opinion (haha..), I think this franchise will not go very far (I heard that Disney will only goes for 3 films). By the way, have u read those Narnia books? For me, I gave up around 3/4 of the first book (haha...). It's just not my cap of tea. If I have to read fantasy novels, I will always choose Douglas Adams's awesome books every time.

Good Night, and Good Luck.
You could have brain tumor by watching this contaminated turd. Nothing in Gentlemen Broncos pays off, it’s incoherent mess, and chock-full of incredibly annoying characters. You will not only loath this movie, but it also makes you want to punch someone who responsible for this abomination in the face.

Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009)
Imagine if Akira got Live-Action treatment by... say Alfonso Cuarón, you know how awesome it might be? That’s what happened to "Fantastic Mr. Fox". Wes Anderson's auteur perfectly captured the quirkiness and blissful tone of the material. Its stop-motion technique might be a little crude and... somewhat unsophisticated, but that's the charm of it. You’ll feel like pop-up book unveiled before your eyes. This is an exceptional animation of the year.
Up in the Air is a blockbuster movie for people who think blockbuster movies are dumb, as it chock full of brilliantly written dialogue, and acting showcase for three talented actors (especially star-making turn by Anna Kendrick). But in the end, there's little to love, not so much story to chew on (plus disappointing third act), and no real connection to the meaning of human interaction as it intended to be.

I Love You, Beth Cooper (2009)
Cliché-ridden plot about a bunch of annoying characters get together in one idiotic circumstance, "I Love You, Beth Cooper" is shameless exploitation & biggest insult to 80s teen flicks. It's like memorizing magic trick from internet, hoping to perform like David Copperfield. Neither sense of wonder nor magic flare happens here. Only good thing is, it makes me wanna cleanse my soul with genuine 80s teen movie night marathon.

Adam (2009)
A perfect companion to Mary & Max (one of the best animation of 2009), Adam is star-crossed love story (pun intended) between Adam, Asperger's Syndrome bearer, and Beth, free spirit woman. The picture wouldn’t be this intimate without stunning performance by Hugh Dancy. On the other hand, the lack of depth on why Beth would love someone like Adam, preventing me from wholeheartedly embraces her choice in the end (which is nice & perfect but requires a leap of faith). Otherwise, this is touching romantic film, which putting its feet firmly on the ground, making the world full of hope and seems nicer place to live.

The Invention of Lying (2009)
Expected to be like “Click” or “Yes Man”, where high-concept plot turned into endless gags, with moral lesson (forcefully) shoving down your throat. But "The Invention of Lying" is thinking man’s film. The whole concept is not seeing how first lying man exploits the ability. But it's about him finding the way not to lie, in order to find genuine happiness. Great stuff.

Give ‘Em Hell Malone (2009)
This is one damn frustrating experience. It’s like watching an infant trying to stand up and walk. They would take a few steps then fall their asses. In fact, kiddie film like “Bugsy Malone” has done better job paying a tribute to film noir than this borefest.

Zombieland (2009)

Romance & Cigarettes (2005)
