One of the most popular types of washing machines is the washer and dryer combo. This is one machine with the functions of both a washer and a dryer. This comes handy especially to people who have small living spaces and to those under a budget so there is no need to purchase separate washers and dryers.
However, if you really want to make sure that they are in their top functions all the time, you must see to it that you clean it once in a while. Once a week is already good enough so it can keep working like new. Here are some steps you can follow:
Step 1: Plug your washing machine and open the tub door, place a cup of white vinegar in the detergent compartment if it can hold it or just dump the vinegar on the tub. Add one cup of baking soda. This you can place in the detergent compartment.
Step 2: Set the washing functions on and then proceed to load medium amount of hot water. This will mix well with the vinegar you have already placed. Afterwards, it will mix with the baking soda. This solution will get rid of the various gunks in your machine such as molds, bacteria, lime residues and mildew.
Step 3: Afterwards, the machine will drain off this cycle. Allow it to continue draining until it finishes. Now fill the tub up again with small water settings in hot water function. This will help wash off lingering baking soda and vinegar in the washer. Drain it off completely.
Step 4: Now you can unplug the washer from the socket and open the tub door. Get a clean towel and slowly wipe off excess residues and moisture on its walls. Now is also the best time to check for anything obstructing the flow of water especially in the filters. Also check the lint filter. Remove collected lint as this can cause malfunction in the dryer settings of the machine.
Step 5: Inspect the water connections and the vent connections to see if they are still intact. After doing so, close the tub door and start wiping the exterior of the machine. If you have an appliance cleaner, you can also use that to get rid of scratches on your precious washer.
