Chocolate cinnamon crumb squares
Having a break from kneading..I then chose something about chocolate to enjoy baking!!
The recipe seems designed for a family fun which means children can join you to make this cake..and to my surprise , even if a method is so simple.. but the taste is much better than I expected ! And I think anyone who loves crumb shouldn't miss something nice like this..
Ingredients:
For the topping
50g plain flour 1 tbsp cocoa powder 2 tsp ground cinnamon 50g light muscovado sugar 50g butter, cubed For the cake
200g plain chocolate 175g softened butter 200g light muscovado sugar 3 eggs 175g self-raising flour ( can use cake flour instead) icing for dusting
Method:
1. Preheat the oven to 170c/fan 150c/gas 3. Butter and line the base and sides of a 20 cm square cake tin. For the topping ,put all ingredients of the topping into a food processor ,then pulse until the mixture forms a crumble. Set aside.
2. For the cake , melt the chocolate either by microwave or double boiler. Put the butter ,sugar ,eggs and flour in a bowl and beat until well mixed. Stir in the chocolate until it is evenly mixed in.
3. Tip the mixture into the tin and smooth the top. sprinkle the crumble evenly over the top. Bake for 50-60 minutes, until the cake is firm to the touch and a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. Leave to cool for 10 mins in the tin before turning out and leave to cool onto a wire rack. Dust lightly with icing and cut into 16 squares.
