To me, and perhaps it's because I'm in this situation, I think this song is sung from the perspective of someone who has an ambiguous relationship with them. They really care about them and obviously the other person cares about them but there's nothing definite and the person singing just wants to be satisfied since they're doing all they can to make things work.

really...calming and sad at the same time. for some reason her accent when she sings makes it seem like she's crying; that isn't a criticism, it's just how i'm perceiving the song. the beginning sounds so "old", for lack of a better word, and then it just kind of reaches across distance and time. a weird description, but this song sounds kind of like that to me. it's awesome
