วันที่ 29 ต.ค. ผู้สื่อข่าว "ข่าวสด" รายงานว่า สื่อในสหรัฐอเมริกาต่างตะลึงกับรูปโฉมของ "นาโอมิ แคมป์เบลล์" เวิลด์ซูเปอร์โมเดล หรือ สุดยอดนางแบบโลก ที่ปรากฎบนหน้าปกนิตยสารแฟชั่นชื่อก้อง โว้ก-ฉบับภาษาไทย ประจำเดือนพ.ย. 2556 เพราะภาพของนาโอมิ ถูกโฟโต้ช็อป หรือเสริมเติมแต่งด้วยโปรแกรมคอมพิวเตอร์ จนแทบไม่เหลือเค้าตัวจริง
เว็บข่าวฮัฟฟิงตันโพสต์ สื่อออนไลน์อันดับต้นๆ ของสหรัฐ รายงานข่าวหัวข้อ "Naomi Campbell Looks Really Different On Vogue Thailand Cover... (PHOTOS)" ระบุว่า จากการเปรียบเทียบภาพนาโอมิในปัจจุบัน กับภาพบนปก โว้ก ไทยแลนด์ เอดิชั่น พบว่าแตกต่างกันแทบสิ้นเชิง อาทิ สีของดวงตาที่ออกโทนเทาๆ ไม่ใช่สีน้ำตาลเหมือนตัวจริง ส่วนผิวสีดำก็จางลงไปมาก
ด้านเว็บแฟชั่นดัง เดอะกลอสส์ พาดหัวข่าว "Photoshop Of Horrors: Vogue Thailand Lightened Naomi Campbells Skin And Were Not Having It" (โฟโต้ช็อปสยองขวัญ : โว้ก ไทยแลนด์ ทำให้สีผิวของนาโอมิ แคมป์เบลล์ จางลง) เขียนโดยจูเลีย โซเนนส์ไฮน์
เนื้อข่าวเดอะกลอสส์ ระบุว่า ภาพของนาโอมิที่ผ่านโฟโต้ช็อปและนำมาตีพิมพ์ลงปกโว้ก ไทยแลนด์ เดือนพย. 56 นั้นแทบไม่เหมือนตัวจริงเอาเลย เพราะกลายเป็นภาพของผู้หญิงดูน่ารักๆ คนหนึ่ง ซึ่งไม่ใช่นาโอมิ
ส่วนจุดที่เปลี่ยนไปจนทำให้เกิดหายนะกับนาโอมิ นั้นทางเดอะกลอสส์ ชี้ว่ามีหลายจุด อาทิ แต่งสีผิวให้จางลง, เปลี่ยนสีดวงตาจากน้ำตาลเป็นสีฟ้าจางๆ, ปรับรูปจมูกใหม่, ปรับรูปโครงสร้างใบหน้าให้เป็นรูปหัวใจ
จูเลีย นักเขียนของเดอะกลอสส์ ตั้งคำถามด้วยว่า ไม่เข้าใจว่าทางโว้ก ไทยแลนด์ ปรับแต่งภาพของนาโอมิด้วยเหตุใด และตั้งสมมติฐานว่าอาจมีประเด็นของ "เชื้อชาติ" เข้ามาเกี่ยวข้องด้วย โดยมองว่าแม้แต่นางแบบระดับซูเปอร์โมเดลก็จะน่ารักขึ้นสวยขึ้นถ้ามีผิวสีดำน้อยลง และโว้ก ไทยแลนด์ ได้ทำข้อผิดพลาดครั้งใหญ่ต่อกรณีที่เกิดขึ้น

Last week, we saw Naomi Campbell in a characteristically fierce W magazine editorial that made the model look an awful lot like Michelle Obama. Today, we found Naomi′s new Vogue Thailand cover... and whoever she resembles in this shot, it sure isn′t Naomi Campbell.
We can′t quite put our finger on what′s different. Maybe it′s the greyish tint to her naturally brown eyes, the lightened skin tone, the exaggerated shadows or all the above. Take a look at Vogue Thailand Naomi and Real World Naomi below and tell us if you can pinpoint the difference.

Naomi Campbell is Vogue Thailands November cover girl, but the photo barely resembles Campbell at all. In fact, the cover features a lovely photo of a woman who couldnt possibly be Naomi Campbell.

Considering how many changes they made to her face, its easier to simply believe that Vogue hired a Campbell look-a-like who wasnt quite right for the part. Here are the steps the design team over at Vogue Thailand would have had to go through in order to change a photo of Naomi Campbell into this train wreck:

1. Significantly lighten her skin tone
2. Change her deep brown eyes to light blue (contacts cant do that)
3. Give her a nose job she didnt ask for or need to have done
4. Her faced seems particularly heart-shaped
5. Wait seriously, they lightened her skin?
I will never understand why magazines do this. They book people celebrated for their looks (who could be more celebrated for her looks than a freaking supermodel?) and then tear their faces apart. Even our walking, breathing ideals of beauty cant live up to our beauty standards.
Its hard not to see a racial side to thisthey lightened her skin and eyes for gods sake. This shows just how insidious beauty standards can be, and even a supermodel could be prettier. She could be less black.
What a waste. Naomi Campbell is undeniably gorgeous, and Vogue Thailand made a huge mistake trying to make her into something that shes not.
