Here was the diary from Nishant gupta from Delhi
A gentle man from Delhi , who concerned about high altitude illness 2008.

ที่มากับคณะเดินทางจากนิวเดลลีประเทศอินเดียรวม 53 คนเขาเป็นคนเดียวในคณะเดินทางที่เอาใจใส่กับโรคที่สามรถเกิดเฉียบพลัน

กับระดับความสุงของการเดินทางของเทือกเขาหิมาลัย
ความสูงเหนือระดับน้ำทะเลที่นายาราม3500 เมตร

เป็นหน่วยสูงสุดของคำจำกัดความ High Altitude : 1500-3500 เมตร

คือนายาราม - ซากา จะสูง ประมาณ 11,500 ฟุต เหนือระดับน้ำทะเลที่เดียว

28th June : leaving for Kathmandu / Tibet Border

I had taken bath at 5.45 am, in preparation of leaving at 6.30 am for the border. Suddenly, I got a call from the group coordinator, stating briefly that we will be leaving around 11 am after having breakfast. Without giving any reason, we were told to wait again, for the delayed departure.

We slept again and got ready for the breakfast. Ankur had developed good rapport with group leader from the travel agency side and even their manager. Their explanation for the 2 day delay and the latest delay was that the travel agency had not been paid the full amount and also not in the right currency. The 500 INR and 1000 INR are not legal in Nepal

Finally we left at around 11.45 pm for the border in two buses. It takes around 5 hrs to reach the border. After getting cleared our emigration formalities we were supposed to crossover to Tibet city of ZhangMu.

Another surprise, still the whole money, in the required currency was not paid to the travel agency. So we were again made to stay at the Nepal side of the border , in the filthiest of lodges, having cramped rooms and dirty common toilets.

Another day wasted and the people were full of anger and frustration

Rumours of canceling the parikarma of Mt. Kailash were doing the rounds. We were very desperate to do Parikarma and hence trying to convince people to do it at ANY cost

More importantly one more day was wasted and our chances of reaching kailash mansarovar also were getting remote.

It was deiced to leave early morning for immigration formalities, around 7.30 nepali time, as china is 2 hrs ahead and they open at 9.30 am. So just across the river, on Chinese side you have to adjust your watch by 2 hours.

No problems.

ผมอาบน้ำ้ตอนเวลาตี5.45

เตรียมตัวออกเดินทางเวลา6.30น.

เพื่อเดินทางไปชายแดน ต่อมาผมได้ไดรับโทรศัพท์จากเจ้าหน้าที่ประสานงานบอกสั้นๆ
ว่าเราจะออกเดินทางเวลา11.00น.
หลังจากทานอาหารเสร็จ โดยไม่อธิบายอะไร บอกให้รอ กับการเดินทางที่เลื่อนออกไป

หลังจากอาหารเช้าเราก็มานอนหลับต่อ. Ankur ก็สร้างสัมพันธ์อันดีกับกลุ่มหัวหน้าทัวร์และผู้จัดการ เขาอธิบายความล่าช้า2วัน
เกิดจากบริษััททัวร์ที่เราติดต่อผ่านและส่งเรามา
ไม่จ่ายเงินเต็มจำนวน และการแลกปลี่ยนเงินไม่ถูกต้อง

เงินอินเดีย รูปี500 หรือ1000 ใช้ไม่ได้ในเนปาล

ต่อมาเราได้ออกเดินทางประมาณ10.45 เพื่อไปชายเเดน ใช้เวลา5 ชั่วโมง
หลังจากตรวจตราเรียบร้อยแล้ว เราก็ประมานว่าจะไปข้ามแดนที่ ชางมูเพื่อไปธิเบต
มีเรื่่ืองน่าประหลาดใจ อยู่ที่เงินทั้งหมด อัตราแลกปลี่ยน ก็ยังทำไม่ได้ เราเลยต้องรออยู่ที่ชายแดน ห้องพักเต็ม ต้องไปอยู่ห้องชั่วคราว ยัดเยียดและแคบ ที่ห้องน้ำ้สกปรก

วันต่อมาที่ต้องเสียเวลา เพื่อนที่มาในคณะเริ่มโกรธ คับข้องใจกัน มีข่าวลือว่า

มีการยกเลิกพิธีการปริการ์มา ที่เขาไกรลาส และมีการชักชวนกันให้รวมตัวกัน

แม้จะต้องเสียเงินสักเท่าไรก็ยอม

สิ่งสำคัญแม้ว่าจะเลยไป1วันแล้วโอกาสที่จะไปเขาไกรลาส
ดูเหมือนจะห่างไกลออกไป

มีการตกลงจะเดินทางตอนเช้าเพิ่อไปด่านตรวจคนเข้าเมือง ตอนเจ็ดโมงครึ่ง

เวลาของประเทศเนปาล เวลาในประเทศจีนเลยไปล่วงหน้า2 ชั่วโมง ด่านตรวจคนเข้าเมือง คุณต้องปรับเลื่อนเวลาเป็นบวกขึ้น2ชั่วโมง

คงไม่เป็นไรนะ

29th June: Finally in Tibet in the town of Zhangmu

This was taking time. Again we got delayed by three hours, but thankfully that couple from Delhi was allowed to pass. Now we got into our Land Cruisers.

We all, ran to choose there Land Cruisers, as if they are running for there lives. It reminded me of my school days, when we used to run to the bus after school, to get the best seat

We had to again show our passports at one more Chinese immigration centre.

After completing formalities, it was lunch time. We were taken to a restaurant, Sherpa Hotel, and were told to wait for lunch. It was taking lot of time, for the lunch to prepare. None of us had had much to eat. People were hungry and the frustration of previous days was adding to the fuel

One more bad news, the roads were closed, ahead of Zhangmu, so we had to stay at Sherpa Hotel for yet another night and leave at 12.30 at night, when the road opens.

I was wondering where our sadhana goes in such situations. Is it only a show, with layers and layers of personality, each revealing itself with time and the gravity of the situation? It is rightly said that one's true personality comes out in grave situations.

Again, there was the same mad rush to get the best room and at the earliest.

At dinner time, it was decided by someone to travel straight to Saga and not stay at Nylam for night stay, so as to cover the lost days. I asked Mr. Subhash, what about the acclimatization??? How would we manage the massive jump of altitude from 2000 mtrs to 4500 mtrs , in one day?

It was an absolute fish market .

He accepted and agreed to the fact that, many people will fall sick because of high altitude and the group coordinator found it amusing about my concern of acclimatization.

How could they be so unconcerned? There were elderly people in the group, who might seriously fall sick. No planning!!!

We refreshed and had a brief sleep and were ready to move again in our land cruisers. Our Land Cruisers no. was 13. Ankur, sargam, one more girl from Calcutta and I were there in that landcruiser

เราต่างคนก็เต็มอกเต็้มใจเขาแถวโชว์พาสปอร์ตที่โต๊ะตรวจพาสปอร์ตและด่านกักกันโรค

พระเจ้าคงไม่มีเวลาตรวจสอบเรามากนัก สองสามีภรรยามีไข้สูง วัดได้105F
ผู้ตรวจเขาคงไม่ให้ผ่านด่านแน่ คาดว่าคงได้กลับจากด่านตรวจแน่ๆ ตม.จีนไม่เข้าใจภาษาอังกฤษ หรือภาษาเนปาลี ไกด์จากทิเบต ที่เพิ่งมาได้พยายามพูด ว่าเกิดจากคออักเสบธรรมดาๆ

ตรงนี้ใช้เวลามาก ช้าไปอีก3 ชั่วโมง ต่อมาเขาก็ปล่อยตัวให้ร่วมเดินทาง

เราวิ่งไปเลือกรถแลนด์ครุยเซอร์กัน เหมือนวิ่งเพื่อจะได้มีชีวิตรอด ผมคิดถึงตอนเป็นเด็ก หลังโรงเรียนเลิก เราแย่งกันขึ้นรถเพื่อแย่งเก้าอี้

และเราได้โชวืพาสปอร์ต อีกครั้งที่ด่านอีกแห่งหนึ่ง

หลังจากเติมแบบฟอร์มอีกครั้งเป็นเวลาอาหารกลางวัน ไกด์นำเราไปทานอาหาร
ที่เชอร์ปาโฮเทล ไม่ค่อยมีใครอยากกินมากนัก ความหิวและความเครียดที่ผ่านมานั้นเหมือนเติมพลังมาแล้ว

ข่าวใหม่อีกอย่างหนึ่ง ถนนปิดตรงทางไปซางมู ดังนั้นเราต้องอยู่ที่โรงแแรมเชอร์ปาอีก1จนถึงเที่ยงคืนครึ่ง

อีกอย่างหนึ่งเราเหมือนคนบ้าที่ิ่ทิ้งห้องพักที่ดีที่สุดออกไปแต่เช้า

เหมือนตลาดขายปลาต้องไปแต่เช้า

ตอนทานอาหาค่ำ มีใครสักคนออก ความเห็นให้เดินทางต่อ่่ ไปซากา และไม่ต้องพักทีนายาราม ซึ่งจะได้คุ้มกับวันที่ช้าไป1วัน ผมถามคุณสุบัส หัวหน้าทีมไกด์ แล้ว การขึ้นที่สูงล่ะ ถ้ามีจะทำการร่างกาย เพื่อฝึกacclimatization กันแบบไหน เราจะจัดการกระโดดข้าม ความกดอากาศ จาก2000เป็น
4,500 เมตรได้อย่างไรในวันเดียว ???

เขายอมรับและเห็นด้วยในเหตุผลข้อนี้ ทุกคนจะต้องป่วยในความสูงเหนือระดับน้ำทะเล และกลุ่มผู้ประสานทัวร์ทำหน้าตาขบขันเมื่อผมกล่าวเรื่อง acclimatization

เจ็บป่วยเฉียบพลันความดันโลหิตในเส้นเลือด ต่ำ ออกซิเจนในเลือดมีต่ำกว่า90% ร่างกายหยุดทำงาน
ทำไมเขาไม่ตระหนักเรื่องนี้กัน ก็มีผู้สุงอายุ่ที่อยู่ในกลุ่มอาจเจ็บป่วยได้

เราเช็ดตัวและนอนหลับอีกครั้งในเวลาสั้นๆ และพร้อมจะไปนั่งรถแลนด์ครุยเซอร์เลขทะเบียน13 อีกครั้ง
Ankur Sagam และผู้หญิงจาก กัลกัตตาอีกคนหนึ่งและผม จะนั่งรถไปด้วยกัน
