Fund trackers EPFR Global reports that in the week ending March 17, investors pulled a record $61.1 billion out of money market mutual funds for a year-to-date total of $256 billion.
This money went into non-European equities and bonds. [ID:nN18100159]

Of course, cash outflows like this cannot last and at some stage in the coming quarters they will start to dry up.
BofA Merrill Lynch noted, for example, that average cash holdings among their fund manager respondents were down to 3.8 percent of portfolios, still above but not all that far from the 3.5 percent it considers a sign that a risk rally will dry up.
"That has proved in the past to be a useful sell signal," said Patrik Schowitz, a BofA Merrill strategist.
