เรื่องของวาฬ โลมา และ หมูวาฬ วันนี้นำอะไรมีสาระมาแนะนำให้ทุกคนค่ะ ด้วยความที่เราเป็นคนชอบวาฬ โลมา และสัตว์ทะเลทุกชนิด เราจึงชอบพิพิธภัณฑ์สัตว์น้ำมากๆ และไปทุกที่ที่มีโอกาสเลยค่ะ จากการที่มาเรียนที่อเมริกา และได้ย้ายมาที่เมือง แหลมมอนเทอร์เรย์ เป็นความยินดีอันดับหนึ่งของเราในการได้มาที่นี่เลยค่ะ เพราะว่าที่นี่ มีพิพิธภัณฑ์สัตว์น้ำ ที่มีชื่อเสียงมากที่นึงของโลกอยู่ค่ะ (จิ้มเพื่อเข้าไปดูเว็บไซต์ของเขาได้เลยนะคะ) แน่นอนล่ะ ว่าได้มาอยู่ใกล้แบบเดินได้ในเวลาสองชม. เราก็ไปสมัครสมาชิกเลยค่ะ รายปี ไปเกินสองครั้งก็คุ้มแล้ว และจากการที่เป็นสมาชิกนั่นเอง ทำให้เราได้ศึกษาเรื่องวาฬ โลมา และหมูวาฬมากขึ้น (ค่ะ ชื่อหมูวาฬมันตลก แต่เราไม่รู้จริงๆว่าจะแปลมันว่าอะไรดี เนื่องจากคำไทยของPORPOISEก็คือโลมาชนิดหนึ่ง แต่จากการที่เราไปศึกษามา มันไม่ใช่ค่ะ) พร้อมกันแล้วรึยังคะ ถ้าพร้อมแล้ว เราจะเริ่มล่ะค่ะ (ยาวนะคะ เป็นtextผสมรูป ใครอ่านหมดเราจะซาบซึ้งมากเลยค่ะ) (เนื้อหาทั้งหมดนี้ เป็นความรู้ที่เราศึกษามาแล้วก็เอามาเขียน ไม่ใช่แค่การแปลจากวิกิแล้วนำมาแปะนะคะ กรุณาอย่านำไปcopyแปะที่ไหนโดยไม่ได้รับอนุญาตนะคะ ขอบคุณมากค่ะ)
 1. วาฬ (Whale) วาฬ เป็นสัตว์เลี้ยงลูกด้วยนมที่ใหญ่ที่สุดในโลก โดยวาฬสีน้ำเงิน สามารถโตได้ถึง30เมตรกันเลยทีเดียวค่ะ (รถเมล์ประมาณ3คัน...) (ที่ไม่เรียกปลาเพราะว่า เค้าเป็นสัตว์เลี้ยงลูกด้วยนมค่ะ <-- ตรงนี้ต้องขอบคุณทุกคนที่ช่วยท้วงเข้ามานะคะ) วาฬ แบ่งออกเป็นสองประเภทนะคะ
วาฬไร้ฟันหรือบาลีนเวลนั้น เป็นวาฬพันธุ์ตัวใหญ่โตที่กินอะไรไม่เข้ากับตัวค่ะ ทั้งๆที่ตัวใหญ่ออกสุดขีด แต่กลับกินแพลงตอน หรือสัตว์จำพวกKrill (ตัวเคยน่ะค่ะ ที่เอามาทำกะปิ) ที่ได้ชื่อว่าวาฬไร้ฟันนั้นก็เพราะว่า กระดูกในปากที่ควรจะงอกออกมาเป็นฟันนั้น ดันออกมาเป็นเส้นโครงยาวๆคล้ายกับเครื่องกรองแทนค่ะ สังเกตเห็นมั้ยคะ ส่วนที่ยื่นออกมาจากผนังปาก เหมือนขนแปรงมั้ยคะ วาฬไร้ฟันจะหาอาหารด้วยการ อ้าปาก สูบน้ำเข้าไป แล้วพ่นน้ำออกเพื่อที่เจ้าพวกแพลงตอนหรือตัวเคย จะติดอยู่กับปากด้านในค่ะ (และด้วยความที่ตัวใหญ่ เจ้าพวกนี้ต้องกินแพลงตอนกันเป็นหลายตันเลยนะคะ) พวกนักล่าวาฬนั้น เวลาที่ล่าเอาวาฬไร้ฟันมานั้น นอกจากจะเอาไขมันไปทำสบู่ได้แล้ว ยังนำเอาเจ้าบาลีนมาขาย และนำไปทำเป็นแปรงชนิดต่างๆกันด้วยอีกค่ะ วาฬไร้ฟันที่พวกเรารู้จักกันดีก็จะมี วาฬสีน้ำเงิน (Blue whale) วาฬหลังค่อม (Humpback whale) วาฬสีเทา (Grey whale) วาฬหัวบาตร (Bowhead whale) เป็นต้นค่ะ ต่อไป วาฬมีฟันหรือทูธด์เวลนั้น เป็นวาฬยี่ห้อมีฟันค่ะ วาฬมีฟันนั้น จะกินปลาตัวเล็ก กลาง ใหญ่ และปลาหมึกเป็นอาหารค่ะ แต่วาฬมีฟันนั้น เท่าที่ศึกษามา ยังไม่มีการฆ่ากันเองในสายพันธุ์มีฟันนะคะ วาฬมีฟันนั้น แตกต่างจากวาฬไร้ฟันก็ตามชื่อนั่นแหละค่ะ วาฬมีฟันที่เราๆรู้จักกันดีก็จะมี วาฬหัวทุย (Sperm whale) (ขอบคุณคุณ* Cygnu$ *และคุณสารวัตรนักเรียนที่ช่วยบอกชื่อมาด้วยนะคะ) เบลูก้าเวล (Beluga whale) - เจ้าวาฬสีขาวที่น่ารักค่ะ เป็นวาฬตัวโปรดของฮานะเลย ตอนที่ได้ไปเที่ยวSea worldที่ซานดิเอโก้ครั้งแรก เกือบร้องไห้เลย ดีใจมากที่ได้เห็นตัวเป็นๆ เป็นครั้งแรกค่ะ วาฬนาร์วัล (Narwhal whale) - เป็นวาฬแถบทวีปอาร์คติคค่ะ เป็นวาฬมีฟันรุ่นพิเศษ ที่มีฟันงอกออกมาหนึ่งซี่ยาว และฟันนั้น มีลักษณะเดียวกับเขาของยูนิคอร์นค่ะ ในสมัยโบราณ ชาวแสกนดิเนเวียชอบล่าวาฬนาร์วัลมา แล้วนำฟันของมันไปหลอกขายชาวอังกฤษว่าเป็นเขาของยูนิคอร์นค่ะ ก็ จบสำหรับเรื่องของวาฬนะคะ ไปต่อกันที่เรื่องของโลมากันบ้างดีกว่า 2. โลมา (Dolphin) โลมา จริงๆแล้วนั้น ก็ไม่ใช่ว่าเป็นอีกสายพันธุ์ไปเลยซะทีเดียวนะคะ แต่จะต่างกันก็ตรงตระกูลนั่นแหละค่ะ คือ วาฬจะเป็นของตระกูลBalaenopteridae ในขณะที่โลมาจะเป็นของตระกูลDelphinidaeค่ะ โลมานั้น มีประเภทเดียว และมีฟันค่ะ ส่วนพันธุ์นั้น ก็มีแตกต่างกันไป ดังตัวอย่างที่จะยกมาให้ดูนะคะ วาฬเพชฌฆาต (Killer whale) - เจ้าตัวนี้ทุกคน (รวมถึงคนอเมริกันด้วย) เหมารวมเป็นวาฬไปซะแล้ว แต่จริงๆแล้ว เจ้าวาฬเพชฌฆาตนี้ เป็นโลมาที่ใหญ่ที่สุดในครอบครัวโลมาค่ะ ชื่อวาฬเพชฌฆาตนั้น มาจากการที่ เจ้าตัวนี้ จะล่ากินตั้งแต่ แพลงตอน ปลา แมวน้ำ เพนกวิน หรือแม้กระทั่งวาฬไร้ฟันค่ะ ที่มาของชื่อจึงหมายถึงอุปนิสัยการกินของเขา ไม่ใช่ชื่อสายพันธุ์ของเขาแต่อย่างใดค่ะ โลมาปากขวด (Bottlenosed dolphin) คนนี้เป็นโลมายอดฮิตไม่แพ้ตัวข้างบนเลยค่ะ แค่แปะรูปทุกคนก็ต้องคุ้นหน้าเนอะคะ ก็ จบกันไปนะคะ สำหรับเรื่องโลมา เพราะงั้นก็ อย่าลืมกันนะคะ ว่าวาฬเพชฌฆาตนั้น จริงๆแล้วเป็นโลมานะคะ เรื่องวิธีแยกแยะ เดี๋ยวจะลงไปอธิบายต่อข้างล่างให้ค่ะ ตัวสุดท้ายในสายพันธุ์นี้ ก็คือหมูวาฬค่ะ 3. หมูวาฬ (Porpoise) หมูวาฬหรือพอร์พอสนั้น เป็นตัวที่มีขนาดเล็กที่สุดในบรรดาพี่น้องข้างบนนั้นค่ะ ที่เรียกว่าหมูวาฬ (อันนี้เราคิดเรียกเองนะคะ) เนื่องจากเปิดพจนานุกรมยังไง ก็เจอแต่ว่า เป็นโลมาชนิดหนึ่ง แต่จริงๆแล้วไม่ใช่ค่ะ คำว่าporpoiseเป็นคำมาจากภาษาฝรั่งเศส ที่แปลว่า Sea hog แปลว่า หมูทะเล แต่เราคิดว่า เรียกว่าหมูวาฬ มันฟังดูน่ารักและเข้าพวกมากกว่าค่ะ เจ้าหมูวาฬนี้ ที่ถูกเรียกอย่างนั้น เพราะว่าลักษณะตัวที่อ้วนป้อมค่ะ และไม่ค่อยมีปากยาวเหมือนโลมาค่ะ และครีบหลัง (Dorsal fin) ของมัน ก็จะมนๆ กลมๆค่ะ ไม่ใช่แค่นั้นนะคะ ยังรวมไปถึงลักษณะของฟันด้วยค่ะ วาฬมีฟันและโลมานั้น รูปฟันจะเป็นลักษณะคล้ายๆรูปกรวยนะคะ ในขณะที่หมูวาฬ จะมีฟันแหลมเกือบจะคล้ายฟันฉลามเลยค่ะ นอกจากนั้น หมูวาฬ ยังมีลักษณะเป็นพวกแยกตัวมากกว่าสัตว์สังคมอย่างพวกคุณๆข้างบนค่ะ ซ้ำยังขี้เล่นไม่เท่าโลมาอีกด้วย เอารูปเจ้าหมูวาฬที่ชื่อดาลมาให้ดูค่ะ ก็จบกันไปแล้วเรื่องหมูวาฬนะคะ ทีนี้ ตามที่บอกไว้ จะอธิบายให้ว่า จะแยกแยะระหว่างวาฬมีฟันกับโลมายังไงดี ในเมื่ออย่างวาฬเพชฌฆาตก็ตัวใหญ่กว่าวาฬไร้ฟันบางตัว วิธีแยกง่ายๆ ให้ดูดังนี้ค่ะ วิธีแยกระหว่างวาฬมีฟันกับโลมา ให้ดูที่ครีบหลังค่ะ ถ้าเป็นวาฬนั้น ครีบหลังจะสั้น กุด โค้งเล็กน้อยแต่พองาม ในขณะที่โลมา จะมีครีบหลังที่โค้ง สวย และเห็นได้ชัดค่ะ (และอย่างที่อธิบายไปแล้วในหมูวาฬ ครีบหลังหมูวาฬจะมนๆป้อมๆ ไม่โดดเด่นสวยงามอย่างโลมาค่ะ) วิธีดูที่ครีบนี่ เป็นการที่เราสะสมข้อมูลและศึกษามาตลอดหลายปีค่ะ เพราะแต่ละที่ ก็จะแนะวิธีดูไม่เหมือนกัน ซึ่งใช้ไม่ได้กับวาฬ โลมา หรือหมูวาฬทุกพันธุ์นะคะ
ปัจจุบันนี้ จำนวนวาฬก็ขึ้นลดกันอย่างน่ากลัวมากค่ะ ในช่วงปี2004-2006 จำนวนวาฬไรท์ (Right whale) ลดลงฮวบฮาบจากสภาวะโลกร้อน เนื่องจากอุณหภูมิทะเลที่สูงขึ้น ทำให้เหล่าเคยหรือแพลงตอนนั้น มีการขยายพันธุ์น้อยลง ทำให้วาฬไรท์อดตายเป็นจำนวนมาก บางตัวอาจเกิดการแท้ง ซึ่งการที่วาฬแท้งนั้นไม่ใช่เรื่องดี เพราะว่าวาฬไรท์ ใช้เวลาตั้งท้องนานถึงสามปี และถ้าหากแท้ง (หรือลูกวาฬตายในท้อง) ก็ต้องใช้เวลารักษาตัวถึงสองปี เบ็ดเสร็จรวมแล้วห้าปี ดังนั้น อัตราการเกิดของวาฬจึงน้อยลงมาก ต่อมา ในช่วงปี2007-ต้นปี2009 จำนวนวาฬกลับเพิ่มขึ้นจนน่าตกใจ ซึ่งสาเหตุนั้นก็มาจากสภาวะโลกร้อนอีกเหมือนกัน เนื่องจากน้ำแข็งที่ละลายลงมาสู่ทะเล ส่งผลให้กระแสน้ำเย็นและอุ่นเปลี่ยนทิศทาง ไปยังถิ่นวาฬ ผู้เชี่ยวชาญบางท่านบอกว่า ไม่มีอะไรน่าเป็นห่วง แต่บางท่านก็บอกว่า ถ้าหากอุณหภูมิในน้ำทะเลเพิ่มขึ้นจนกระแสน้ำเย็นหลงเหลือน้อย ก็อาจะทำให้วาฬสูญพันธุ์ได้เช่นกันค่ะ
