คติธรรมคำสอน ของ สมเด็จพระพุฒาจารย์ ( โต พรหมรังสี )

เคล็ดลับสู่ความสำเร็จ
ท่านเจ้าประคุณสมเด็จพระพุฒาจารย์ ( โต ) กล่าวว่า เคล็ดลับสู่ความสำเร็จสุดยอดในทางธรรม คือ จะต้องมีสัจจะอันแน่วแน่ และมีขันติธรรมอันมั่นคง จึงจะฝ่าฟันอุปสรรค บรรลุความสำเร็จได้ อาตมามีกฎอยู่ว่า เช้าตีห้าไม่ว่าฝนจะตก ฟ้าจะร้อง อากาศจะหนาว ต้องตื่นทันที ไม่มีการผัดเวลา แล้วเข้าสรงน้ำ ชำระกายให้สะอาด แล้วจึงได้สวดมนต์และปฏิบัติสมถกรรมฐานหนึ่งชั่วโมง พอหกโมงตรงก็ออกบิณฑบาต เพื่อปฏิบัติตามปฏิปทาขององค์สมเด็จพระสัมมาสัมพุทธเจ้า

ฝึกจิตให้ได้ผลต้องตรงต่อเวลา
กลับจากบิณฑบาตแล้ว ก็เอาอาหารตั้งไว้ ตักน้ำใส่ตุ่ม เสร็จแล้วฉันอาหารเช้า โดยปกติอาตมาฉันมื้อเดียวเว้นไว้มีกิจนิมนต์ จึงฉันสองมื้อ สี่โมงเช้าถึงเที่ยง ถ้ามีรายการไปเทศน์ ก็ไปเทศน์ตามที่นัดไว้ วันไหนไม่ติดเทศน์ก็จะปิดประตูกุฏิทันที ไม่ให้ใครๆเข้าไป ในช่วงเวลานั้นเป็นเวลาศึกษาตำรา เวลาบ่ายโมงจึงออกรับแขก บ่ายสามโมงไม่ว่าใครจะมาอาตมาจะให้ออกจากกุฏิไปหมด เพราะถึงเวลาปฏิบัติวิปัสสนากรรมฐาน ฉะนั้น จุดสำคัญจงจำไว้ เราจะปฏิบัติเพื่อหลุดพ้น ต้องมีสัจจะเพื่อตน โดยไม่เห็นแก่หน้าใคร ถึงเวลาทำสมาธิต้องทำ ไม่มีการผัดผ่อนใดๆ ทั้งสิน

หลักการปฏิบัติวิปัสสนากรรมฐาน
1.จะต้องมีสัจจะต่อตนเอง
2.จะต้องไม่คล้อยตามอารมณ์ของมนุษย์
3.พยายามตัดงานในด้านสังคมออก และไม่นัดหมายใครในเวลาปฏิบัติกรรมฐาน ดังนั้นเมื่อจะเป็นนักปฏิบัติธรรมจำเป็นจะต้องมีกฎเกณฑ์ของเรา เพื่อฝึกจิตให้เข้มแข็ง

ทางแห่งความหลุดพ้น
เจ้าประคุณสมเด็จฯ มักจะกล่าวกับสานุศิษย์ทั้งหลายอยู่เสมอว่า ชีวิตมนุษย์อยู่ได้ไม่ถึงหนึ่งร้อยปีก็ต้องตายและถูกหามเข้าป่าช้า ดังนั้น จึงควรประพฤติปฏิบัติอยู่ใน ศีล สมาธิ และปัญญา เพื่อให้หลุดพ้นจากสังสารวัฏ ท่านเปรียบเทียบว่า มนุษย์อาบน้ำ ชำระกายวันละสองครั้ง เพื่อกำจัดเหงื่อไคลสิ่งโสโครกที่เกาะร่างกาย แต่ไม่เคยคิดจะชำระจิตให้สะอาดแม้เพียงนาที ด้วยเหตุนี้ ทำให้จิตใจของมนุษย์ ยุคปัจจุบันเศร้าหมองเคร่งเครียดและดุดัน ก่อให้เกิดปัญหาความพิการในสังคมความแก่งแย่งชิงดีชิงเด่นกัน จนกระทั่งเกิดความขัดแย้ง และกลายเป็นสงครามมนุษย์ฆ่ามนุษย์ด้วยกัน

แต่งใจ
ขอให้ท่านได้พิจารณาไตร่ตรองให้จงดีเถิดว่า ร่างกายของเรานี้ไฉนจึงต้องชำระทุกวันทั้งเช้าและเย็น จะขาดเสียไม่ได้ทั้งที่หมั่นทำความสะอาดอยู่เป็นนิจ แต่ยังมีกลิ่นไม่น่าอภิรมย์ออกมา แม้จะพยายามหาของหอมมาทาทับ ก็ปกปิดกลิ่นนั้นไม่ได้ใจของเราล่ะ ซึ่งเป็นใหญ่กว่าร่างกาย เป็นผู้สั่งบัญชางาน ให้กายแท้ๆ มีใครเอาใจใส่ชำระสิ่งสกปรกออกบ้าง ตั้งแต่เล็กจนเติบโตเป็นผู้ใหญ่ มันสั่งสมสิ่งไม่ดีไว้มากเพียงใด หรือว่ามองไม่เห็นจึงไม่มีความจำเป็นที่จะต้อง ทำความสะอาดหรือ?

กรรมลิขิต
เราทั้งหลายเกิดมาเป็นมนุษย์ชาติแล้ว ล้วนแต่มีกรรมผูกพันกันมาทั้งสิ้น ผูกพันในความเป็นมิตรบ้างเป็นศัตรูบ้าง แต่ละชีวิตก็ย่อมที่จะเดินไปตามกรรมวิบากของตนที่ได้กระทำไว้ ทุกชีวิตล้วนมีกรรมเป็นเครื่องลิขิต

อดีตกรรม ถ้ากรรมดี เสวยอยู่
ปัจจุบันกรรม สร้างกรรมชั่ว ย่อมลบล้าง
อดีตกรรม กรรมแห่งอกุศล วิบากตน
ปัจจุบัน สร้างกรรมดี ย่อมผดุง

เรื่องกฎแห่งกรรม ถ้าเป็นชาวพุทธแล้ว เขาถือว่าเป็นกฎแห่งปัจจังตัง ผู้ที่ต้องการรู้ ต้องทำเอง รู้เอง ถึงเอง แล้วจึงจะเข้าใจ

นักบุญ
การทำบุญก็ดี การทำสิ่งใดก็ดี ถ้าเป็นการทำตนให้ละทิฏฐิมานะ ทำเพื่อให้จิตเบิกบาน ย่อมเสวยบุญนั้นในปรภพ มนุษย์ทุกวันนี้ทำแบบมีกิเลส ดังนั้น บางคนนึกว่าเข้าสร้างโบสถ์เป็นหลังๆ แล้วเขาจะไปสวรรค์หรือเปล่า เขาตายไปอาจจะต้องตกนรก เพราะอะไรเล่า เพราะถ้าเขาสร้างด้วยเจตนาไม่บริสุทธิ์ เป็นการทำเพื่อเอาบุญบังหน้าในการเสวยความสุขส่วนตัวก็มี บางคนอาจเรียกได้ว่าหน้าเนื้อใจเสือ คือข้างหน้าเป็นนักบุญ ข้างหลังเป็นนักปล้น

ละความตระหนี่มีสุข
ดังนั้นบุญที่เขาทำนี้ถือว่า ไม่เป็นสุข หากมาจากการก่อกรรม บุญนั้น จึงมีกระแสคลื่นน้อยกว่าบาปที่เขาทำเอาไว้หากมีใครเข้าใจคำว่า บุญ นี้ดีแล้ว การทำบุญนี้จุดแรกในการทำก็เพื่อไม่ให้เรานี้เป็นคนตระหนี่ รู้จักเสียสละเพื่อความสุขของผู้อื่น ธรรมดาเพื่อนมนุษย์ด้วยกัน เมื่อมีทุกข์ก็ควรจะทุกข์ด้วย เมื่อมีความสุขก็ควรสุขด้วยกัน

อย่าเอาเปรียบเทวดา
ในการทำบุญ สิ่งที่จะได้ก็คือ ระหว่างเราผู้เป็นมนุษย์ เรารู้ว่าสิ่งที่เราทำนี้จะเป็นมงคล ทำให้จิตใจเบิกบานดี นี่คือการเสวยผลแห่งบุญในปัจจุบัน ทีนี้การทำบุญเพื่อจะเอาผลตอบแทนนั้น มนุษย์นี้ออกจะเอาเปรียบเทวดา ทำบุญครั้งใด ก็ปรารถนาเอาวิมานหนึ่งหลังสองหลัง การทำบุญแบบนี้เรียกว่า ทำเพราะหวังผลตอบแทนด้วยความโลภ บุญนั้นก็ย่อมจะไม่มีผล ท่านอย่าลืมว่า ในโลกวิญญาณเขามีกระแสทิพย์รับทราบในการทำของมนุษย์แต่ละคนเขามีห้องเก็บบุญและบาปแห่งหนึ่ง อันเป็นที่เก็บบุญและบาปของใครต่อใครและของเรื่องราวนั้นๆ กรรมของใครก็จะติดตามความเคลื่อนไหวของตนๆนั้น ไปตลอดระหว่างที่เขายังไม่สิ้นอายุขัย

บุญบริสุทธิ์
การที่สอนให้ทำบุญโดยไม่ปรารถนานั้น ก็เพื่อให้กระแสบุญนั้นบริสุทธิเป็นขั้นที่นึ่ง จะได้ตามให้ผลทันในปัจจุบันชาติ แต่ถ้าตามไม่ทันในปัจจุบันชาติ ก็ติดตามไปให้เสวยผลในปรภพ คือ เมื่อสิ้นอายุขัยจากโลกมนุษย์ไปแล้ว ฉะนั้น เขาจึงสอนไม่ให้ทำบุญเอาหน้า ทำบุญอย่าหวังผลตอบแทน สิ่งดีที่ท่านทำไปย่อมได้รับสนองดีแน่นอน

สั่งสมบารมี
โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่ง สำหรับนักปฏิบัติธรรมแล้ว การทำบุญทำทานย่อมเป็นการส่งเสริมการปฏิบัติจิตให้บรรลุธรรมได้เร็วขึ้น เป็นบารมีอย่างหนึ่ง ในบารมีสิบทัศที่ต้องสั่งสม เพื่อให้สำเร็จมรรคผลนิพพาน

เมตตาบารมี
การทำบุญให้ทานเพียงแต่เรียกว่า ทานบารมี หากบำเพ็ญสมาธิจิตจนได้ญาณบารมี และโดยเฉพาะการบำเพ็ญทุกอย่างนั้น ถ้าท่านให้โดยไม่มีเจตนาแห่งการให้ ให้สักแต่ว่าให้เขา ท่านก็ย่อมได้กุศลเรียกว่าไม่มาก และทัศนคติของอาตมาว่าการบำเพ็ญเมตตาบารมีในภาวนาบารมีนั้นได้กุศลกรรมกว่าการให้ทาน

แผ่เมตตาจิต
ทุกสิ่งทุกอย่างที่จะสัมฤทธิ์ผลนั้น เกิดจากกรรม 3 อย่าง คือ มโนกรรม เป็นใหญ่ แล้วค่อยแสดงออกมาทางวจีกรรม หรือกายกรรมที่เป็นรูป การบำเพ็ญสมาธิจิตเป็นกุศลดีกว่า เพราะว่า การแผ่เมตตา 1 ครั้ง ได้กุศลมากกว่าสร้างโบสถ์ 1 หลัง ขณะจิตที่แผ่เมตตานั้น จะเกิดอารมณ์แจ่มใส สรรพสัตว์ไม่มีโทษภัย ตัวท่านก็ไม่มีโทษภัย ฉะนั้น เขาจึงว่านามธรรมมีความสำคัญกว่า

อานิสงส์การแผ่เมตตา
ผู้ปฏิบัติธรรมนั้น ต้องรู้จักคำว่า แผ่เมตตา คือต้องเข้าใจว่า ความวิเวกวังเวงแห่งการคิดนึกของเราแต่ละบุคคลนั้น มีกระแสแห่งธาตุไฟผสมอยู่ในจิตและวิญญาณกระจายออกไป เมื่อจิตของเรามีเจตนาบริสุทธิ์ เมื่อจิตของเราเป็นมิตรกับทุกคน เมื่อนั้นเขาก็ย่อมเป็นมิตรกับเรา เสมือนหนึ่งเราให้เขากินอาหาร คนที่กินอาหารนั้นย่อมคิดถึงคุณของเรา หรืออีกนัยหนึ่งว่าเราผูกมิตรกับเขาๆก็ย่อมเป็นมิตรกับเรา แม้แต่คนอันธพาล เราแผ่เมตตาจิตให้ทุกๆวัน สักวันหนึ่งเขาก็ต้องเป็นมิตรกับเราจนได้ เมื่อจิตเรามีเจตนาดีต่อดวงวิญญาณทุกๆดวง ดวงวิญญาณทุกๆดวงย่อมรู้กระแสแห่งจิตของเรา เรียกว่ามนุษย์เรานี้มีกระแสธาตุไฟออกจากสังขาร เพราะเป็นพลังแห่งการนั่งสมาธิจิต วิญญาณจะสงบ ธาตุทั้ง 4 นั้น จะเสมอแล้วจะเปล่งเป็นพลังงานออกไป ฉะนั้น ผู้ที่นั่งสมาธิปฏิบัติอย่างสม่ำเสมอ จิตแน่วแน่แล้ว โรคที่เป็นอยู่มันจะหายไป ถ้าสังขารนั้นไม่ใช่จะพังเต็มทีแล้ว คือไม่ถึงวาระสิ้นอายุขัย หรือว่าสังขารนั้นร่วงโรยเกินไปแล้ว ก็จะรักษาให้มันกระชุ่มกระชวยได้หรือจะให้มันสบายหายเป็นปกติดั่งเดิมได้

ประโยชน์จากการฝึกจิต
ผู้ที่ปฏิบัติวิปัสสนากรรมฐาน จนมีสมาธิแน่วแน่ เมื่อจิตนิ่งก็รู้ตน เริ่มพิจารณาตน รู้ตนเองได้ ปัญญาก็เกิดขึ้น ปัญญานี้เรียกว่า ปัญญาภายในจากจิตวิญญาณ ซึ่งเราจะใช้ปัญญานี้ได้แน่นอน เมื่อเกิดมีปัญหาขึ้นในชีวิตตลอดระยะเวลาอันยาวนานข้างหน้า นี่คือประโยชน์ของการฝึกจิตแล้ว คุณของสมาธิยังเป็นพลังป้องกันไม่ให้เกิดโรคภัย เจ็บป่วยได้ กล่าวคือ การบำเพ็ญจิต จนจิตสงบนิ่งแล้ว ระบบต่างๆทางประสาทจะได้รับการพักผ่อน เป็นการปรับธาตุในกายให้เกิดพลังจิตเข้มแข็ง กายเนื้อก็จะแข็งแรงกระชุ่มกระชวยด้วย โลหิตในร่างกายจะหมุนเวียนสะดวกขึ้น ความตึงเครียดตามร่างกายและประสาทต่างๆ จะผ่อนคลายเป็นปกติ โรคต่างๆจะลดน้อยลงโดยเฉพาะผู้ที่ป่วยเป็นโรคความดันโลหิตสูง หายป่วยได้ด้วยการฝึกจิตและเดินจงกรม
