An old-time Pendulum Clock that can be Used for Shelving
Designed by Yar Rassadin aka Babkin, a Moscow based product designer, the P-bookshelf is a combination of an old-time floor pendulum clocks structure and functional shelf for books. In this way we make ironic combined style and change the meaning of functions. This is the combined product with fifty-fifty distribution between two old ideas. This product has been presented on the SaloneSatellite at I Saloni Worldwide Moscow on October 8th to October 11th, 2008. I’m pretty sure that the P-bookshelf would be a great addition to our 30 of the Most Creative Bookshelves Designs collection.

Putting Green Rug for Golf Fanatics
It’s now getting a little too chilly for golf but addicts can still practice their putting indoors with FLOR’s Putt Up or Shut Up rug. The rug is cleverly constructed with areas of smooth cropped surfaces combined with plusher ones all of which constitutes the golf green. The rug comes with golf balls which you can aim towards the hole in the rug.  The putting green rug is actually modular as it comes in sets of floor tiles. You could then arrange them to suit your golfing skills. The suggested configurations are called Par 3, 4 and 5. Get several of the rugs and fit them in any way you like for your own indoor mini golf course! – Via

Cube Chair by Svilen Gamalov
Although still at the concept stage the “Cube Chair” by Svilen Gamalov provides an interesting example of modern design. The chair, which combines futurist design elements of the 1950’s with modern sensibility, is designed to envelope the user, creating a comfortable and stylized space. I hope to see more creative pieces of modern furniture like these, and I can’t wait to see the Gamalov’s ‘Cube Chair’ fully realized.

Green Collection by Margaret Elman
Imagery is showing up quite a bit in home decor these days, often with designs inspired by nature. Fantastic colors combined with nicely shaped furniture are absolutely present a pleasant view for eyes. Margaret Elman, owner of Chair Couture has created a beautifully refined interpretation of this phenomenon with her new seating/bedding collection. Known for her creative pairing of vintage French chairs with witty fabrics, her new collection reflects a calmer, more organic spin on vintage furniture revival. Margaret Elman has designed this fabulous collection of original designs called “Green Collection.”

Kowalewski Residence, A Rigid Place to Live In Or A Cool Modern House?
Located in Atlantic Beach, New York, this impressive display of architecture comes from Belmont Freeman Architects and is a symbol of modern design. In a community of 1920’s and 30’s homes, this project comes to break the pattern and impose contemporaneity. We are not fond of this idea, however the building team considers that the the Kowalewski residence remains “respectful of the scale and architectural traditions of the community”. Overall, we think the house has some pretty cool architecture features, such as the irregular shape or the vertical window section which brakes monotony and seems to split the building in two unequal parts. The round window is also of great aesthetic effect. Still, in our opinion, homes should lose the rigid feel and stick to a design that inspires a homey atmosphere.
