Modern Penthouse Design Overlooking the Minneapolis Lakes
This uncommon looking penthouse was designed by ALTUS Architecture+Design and accommodates a few impressive modern elements. With views towards the Minneapolis lakes, the condominium was especially developed for a young professional in need of a place to combine privacy with socializing living space. We have some information from the architects concerning the apartments structure: The private master suite is created behind a curved white marble dust plaster wall that pulls one into the space. A freestanding Burlington stone bathroom mass organizes the master suite and separates the bedroom area from the bath and dressing spaces.. Suspended cabinet elements of domestic and Australian Walnut draw one into the living room and kitchen spaces. Stainless steel countertops and translucent glass walls create a progressive modern quality to the interior edges of the space. We particularly enjoy how the spiral staircase that leads to the roof and garden above becomes the focal point of the living area, while creating a calm atmosphere of playful shades.

Unworldly Fitness Climbing Wall with Odd Challenges in Tokyo
It is true that fitness clubs today would do almost anything to impress and attract customers. But this idea pushes the limits of creativity and brings something truly unique. The uncommon climbing wall below is just one of the accessories of the much talked about Illoiha Omotesando fitness club in Tokyo and was designed by Nendo. Instead of the usual rock-shaped holding elements, this wall features plenty of unexpected objects which the climber will definitely find
propulsive.  Here is the official project description from Nendo: To express the original brand concept of becoming beautiful through movement, we chose the theme rock-climbing in Omotesando and developed a design that uses the mismatch between a rugged outdoor sport and Tokyos fashion district to its advantage. Instead of the usual rough and outdoorsy climbing wall, we came up with the idea of using interior design elements like picture frames, mirrors, deer heads, bird cages and flower vases to create a challenging wall with hard-to-find holds and unusual finger grips. We hope that our uniquely Omotesando-style climbing wall inspires newcomers to try out the sport, and starts a new wave in fitness with style.

Rainbows, Imagination and Surprises: Pilars Story Toyshop in Barcelona
Pilars Story Toyshop designed by Elia Felices is definitely not an ordinary kids store. Located in Mataró (Barcelona), the toy outlet covers and area of 170 square meters and resembles a miniature fantasy world. Here is the official description from the designer: The facade consists of the frame of a mirror that marks off the interior and simultaneously invites us to cross it to enter the shop. Another circular form joined to the arch contains the backlit logotype of the establishment. The visitor passes through the frame to a fantasy world, as in the childrens story of Alice through the looking glass. Together, these frontal elements act as the threshold, marking the frontier between our world and the world of fantasy. The colours that personalize the project are the lime-green already present in the frame of the front and pink fuchsia. Both contribute happiness, vitality and energy to the project, in addition to combining to the perfection with the surrounding white of the whole space. The above-mentioned colours give small touches of fantasy that are further complemented by the lighting. The toyshop was designed not only to attract children, but people of all ages. We know we would certainly take a look inside if we were around.

Small Home Redesign with Delighful Contemporary Additions
Potrero Hill Residence comes from Aidlin Darling Design and is a restoration of an 1950′s home. The architects reinvented the 1650 square feet home (253 sqm), transforming the existing building into an open modern residence. Embedded in a beautiful garden, efforts were conducted to maximize the views, by creating large windows that also allow good lighting throughout the day: Mute stucco facades were opened up with expanses of glass, capturing panoramic views to the west, and intimate gardens to the east. A sculptural interplay of material, light and space extends the perceived and implied volume of the building, making a small home feel spacious and spatially dynamic. It almost seems like the indoor and exterior spaces merge, making it possible for the inhabitants to enjoy relaxing nature activities whenever they please. The interior design is alluring and quite diverse, with plenty of contemporary elements that add value and charm.
