In London, there are lots of interesting things to do in autumn such as autumn events, autumn theater, Halloween, and weekend farm markets. Autumn starts from the middle of September to the early of November. I preferred walking through St. James’s park on the day with sunny day. I chose the red leaf of the maple tree for sit under and looked at the red leaves is falling down. I felt I was separated from the world with red leaves all over the ground. I found myself walking into remembering of classes in primary school in Thailand. My teacher began to explain………… Autumn season in England and fall season in America. Autumn is the season of changing from summer to winter. We love the color of autumn leaves. The leaves become yellow, orange and red. Leaves are the kitchen of plants. Water is taken by the roots from the ground. They use carbon dioxide, sunlight and water change to oxygen and glucose. Plants use glucose as food for growing and release the oxygen into the air that living things need to breathe. Plants gather water and carbon dioxide with sunlight to cook food, which is called photosynthesis. The green color of plant leaves is called chlorophyll. The chlorophyll helps plants to do photosynthesis. As summer is fade and autumn comes , the plants know to prepare themselves for winter. During the winter, the weather is very dry and day time is short. It means a lack of water and light for doing photosynthesis. The plants need rest in winter, so they must keep enough food in summer and to use in winter. In the winter the kitchen of plants is shut down completely, therefore the green color is gone from their leaves and replaced by yellow, orange and red. The cool nights in autumn and sunlight makes glucose in the leaves become a red color. The brown is appeared from the wastes left in the leaves. When the teacher finished explaining why tree leaves change color in the autumn, I could imagine what they look like because I had never seen them in Thailand. Thailand has summer, rainy and winter, but do not have autumn. Perhaps I was lucky to have the opportunity to stay in London where there is variety of seasons. I saw the beautiful natural decoration, beautiful snow, and not only the green leaves as in Thailand. Many people still keep wondering why leaves turn yellow, orange and red, absolutely not me. I have lonely feeling, so depressing and unable to find any comfort for my misery. I have often asked myself why people have so much competition such as studying, working and wealth, everything is a competition. No one ever realize we all must die finally just as the leaves are die in the autumn.
