Mesmerizing Modern Family House
This magnificent family house, which is located in Mill Valley, California, belongs to Lara Hedberg Deam, the founder of architecture and design magazine Dwell. The house was recently renovated by her husband who work as an architect, Chris Deam, where he has created such a refreshing and inviting home with impeccable modern design. Upon home renovation, the architect needed to know the objective, and it was because the growing numbers of family, Lara, Chris and their two beautiful children that they want private space. Heres what the architect has said We wanted to carve out space for the individualsfor Laras home office, for me to have a place to work, for each of the kids, for a smaller room where we could watch TV and have family time, and for more space to entertain.
The home plans were then adjusted and developed according to the needs and it seems that the strong indoor outdoor connection found at this house was a bonus. There is an interesting fact towards the door which opens towards the backyard and that is The door weighs about 2,000 pounds (907 kilos), and it has its own foundation under the pivot point. In the first concept sketches it was really thin and elegant, but it just kept growing and growing and eventually the diagonal brace showed upin the end, why not let the engineering show ? A good family home isnt it?
