a European style house overlooking Italian countryside
Italian architect Alessandro Bulletti designed the Observatory House in Deruta, and like the view which it frames, it is absolutely awe-inspiring. From the outside, this slope house plan is totally immersed in nature, overlooking the deep valley at its feet. The sandstone house base is complemented by a light and airy glass wall upper level. But this European style house offers the best sense of nature when youre outside. The glazed upper level opens onto a terrace and a magnificent Italian countryside view. At ground level, an outdoor entertaining area echoes the same striking sandstone that makes the base, with a pool and platform stretching southward over the olive groves. Interiors carry that same strong sense of nature, with expansive windows on both the main and upper level, which are finished with continuous sandstone floors.
