Outdoor Living House Plan Embraces Ireland Landscape
Talk about a room with a view! This outdoor living house plan is architecturally interesting and appealing for its unique shape and glass walls among an amazing natural setting. Landscape Room House by LID Architecture is a contemporary country home overlooking Glencar Lake and surrounded by mountains in Sligo, Ireland. The existing house was renovated, reorganized, and totally opened up to the outdoors to create an outdoor living and entertaining area. The main plan was to break out from the restrictive form of the existing to create a landscape room, partly internal, partly external, orientated to the south-west, and surrounded by the landscape, explains the architect. The focal feature of this modern, interesting home, the indoor/outdoor room is a sun-soaked space for relaxing alone or entertaining groups; for reading, lounging or dining, connected to the kitchen inside the house. The innovative, inverted roof is designed to harvest rainwater, and visually connects the home to a garden pond and the lake beyond.
