The girls put on their finest outfits for one of Miss World's most quintessential evenings, the Miss World Charity Gala and Auction. The Gala was an evening of beauty, generosity, and talent at the Grosvenor Hotel in London.

The event began with a live band to kick off the evening during a reception where the contestants got to meet guests attending. Soon after it was time for an introduction of all the ladies, where two would be announced to sit at each table to mingle with the guests.

As dinner was being served, Vietnam delivered a stunning and unique performance, as she created art with sand to a Celine Dion track dedicated to her Mother. After a delicious Lamb en croute, the audience was treated to the delightful sounds of Alfreda Burke and Rodrick Dixon, two opera singers from Chicago, who flew in especially for this evening. Both performances left some audience members in tears and Rodrick earned a standing ovation for his rendition of "Anthem" from Chess.

After Dinner five of the Top Ten 'Beauty with a Purpose' projects were announced - India, Brazil, Indonesia, Kenya, and Guyana and their touching videos were shown to the audience. Immediately after, an additional five finalists of 'Beauty with a Purpose' were announced, those being, Philippines, Bolivia, South Africa, Netherlands, and England.

Malaysia & Korea

It was now time for the auction, where 24 national gifts were put in groups of 3, to auction off 8 packages. The highest bids were over £5000 and the audience was fierce in their bidding wars. The final item was the most valuable, as it came from Denise Perrier, Miss World 1953, known as "The First Lady" of Miss World. Denise Perrier decided to donate her Miss World trophy, and the item was auctioned off for an incredible £30,000.

After this, Megan and I got to put our presenting skills to work, as we welcomed some of the Talent Finalists to the stage to deliver their talent acts. USA and Russia performed ballet, while Canada, Scotland, and Malaysiasang various genres. When all had performed, each of the Miss World delegates were called to the stage to perform the Miss World Song, and it was then time for a little dancing.

All in all, the event raised thousands for charity, and it was another once in a lifetime opportunity for me, and all the delegates of Miss World.
