Manila Plans to Host the Miss World 2014 Beauty Pageant
The capital of the Philippines, Manila, is now planning to host one of the worlds most popular beauty pageant, the Miss World, as Vice President Jejomar Binay and Miss World Philippines director Cory Quirino are now pushing for holding the Miss World event in the country.
The Philippines is now considered as a force to reckon with in the international pageant as the country hold a record of four major international pageant wins for the year 2013. Former beauty titlist Cory Quirino told reporters that I hope we get the governments support because the Philippines has not yet hosted the Miss World. This will be the first Miss World finals in the Philippines and it is timely because we have the first ever Filipina Miss World, Quirino said after giving a proposal to Binay Thursday.
Cory Quirino was accompanied by Megan Young on their visit to the Vice President, the Miss World 2013 title-holder also said that We hope that it will be in the Philippines. We want our theme to be rebuilding. Its not just about hosting the pageant, Megan Young said on their courtesy call to the Vice President. According to Cory Quirino she believes that Megan Youngs victory two months before super typhoon Yolanda struck the Philippines is a sign for her to be able to bring attention to the reconstruction efforts that is expected to take several years.
Aside from the Vice President the Miss World Philippines organizers also showed their proposal to the Department of Tourism on Thursday afternoon. The Miss World beauty pageant will be considered as a fund raising event to be held for the benefit of the victims of the super typhoon Yolanda.
