"I am not in in condition to compete. This is one of the saddest moments of my career"
Spanish tennis player Rafa Nadal won't be able to compete in the London Olympics, announces today.
Rafa Nadal: I am not in condition to compete in the London Olympics and therefore will not travel as planned with the Spanish delegation to take part in the games"
"I have to think about my companions, I can't be selfish and I have to think of what's best for Spanish sport, especially tennis and Spanish players and give fellow sportsmen with better preparation the chance to compete. I tried to hurry my preparations and training to the very last minute, but it was not to be "

Rafa might be back in Nov for WTF in London and/or the Davis Cup final if Spain can beat the United States without him. Or he may decide not to compete at all until 2013.
We just have to wait and see.
@Khun Oon I agree with you on the latter point แม่ยกเหงาาาา & เซ็งมากกกก, but I don't think we need to worry about Rafa's motivation to return to tennis. He loves the games/competitions and I believe he's still hungry for more. He did mention he wanted to play for Spain at the next Olympic Games in Rio. It means he still plans to continue playing after he reaches 30 and that is delightful news for all of us. But as he intends to prolong his career, it's very likely that we'll see less of him / his tennis each year – perhaps fewer hard court tourneys to avoid further knee injury. I can live with that.
It’s sad to know that he’s been playing while in pain almost throughout his career. As we all know, “Enjoy Suffering” has always been one of his principles. I can only hope that he’ll be pain free and won’t have to suffer /going thru major injuries anymore from now on.
