Words are a tool to convey meanings of love and care as well as hate, discrimination and indifference. Use them well.

Beauty and the "Beast"

==============================================
I'm a straight guy. So, basically, when I was a teenager, I always would like to have a nice girlfriend, somehow... That's normal, right? :)

When I was in college, I got a chance to learn something about girls.... particularly very beautiful girls!!

When I was a sophomore, I got a chance to have one of the most beautiful girl I ever knew as my "sister".

Hmmmm, I became more popular among many friends of mine.... you know, they would like to "participate" in taking care of my beautiful sister.... Well, I didn't mind though... :)

My "sist" and I were both early birds. We came to campus very early and almost at the same time(around 6:15AM). So we had many chances to chat and know each other as a real person.

For your record, I fell for her once too but it didn't work out... She fell in love with another guy from our neighboring engineering school.

This guy was a very good looking individual.... The guy and I came from a same high school. So, we, his fellow students, knew him really well about what he did (mostly not good)....

So, in that time, I didn't tell her much about that... I respected her feelings/decisions, hoped for the best that she would learn from that, and, of course, crossed my fingers.

They dated for many years (4 or 5 years I believe). I thought that they would have been married....

After I was graduated, I sent myself into a sugar cane plantation in the middle of nowhere and never contacted her for all period of "living in exile".

Two years later, I got out from the jungle. I got accepted to a graduate school for my M.S. in Bangkok. So I called her and asked her to have a lunch together.

We met.... During that lunch, she told me that she was going to be married. I congratulated her; "Congratulations! With him, right?".... Surprisingly, a no was her reply.... She told me that she knew that he was having someone else behind her back and just could not get along... So that's why she decided to leave him and dated with another guy. Even more surprising, she said; "Even though I was going to be married soon, I feel that I'm still in love with him. I don't understand why!"

Well, I was trying to understand.... I was stunned and, by that, I didn't understand that reasoning up until present.

When I flew back to Thailand two years ago, I met her again.... She still looked great--- or even more beautiful than she was when I first met her almost 15 years ago... But, this time, I had no intentions to bring that "sensitive issue" up to spoil our friendship and lunch again....

I just kept in mind that beauty and the beast could come along well together.... There would be no good reasons nor explanations for that. Period.

Myself? I chose a girl who I loved and she loved me back that would be the best solution for my life. And, that would be simple enough, isn't it?

Consider yourself lucky. Many people spend their whole lives looking for real love. But let me also add that sometimes love is not enough. We need respect, understanding, and forgiveness. Relationships require a lot of work. Actually we should treat them like work. Really.

On a lighter note, have you watched Beauty and the Geek?I'm not sure if it's on Fox or NBC but anyway, my hubby asked me, between he and I, who's Beauty and who's the Geek. Naturally I said I'm Beauty and he's the Geek. But then he asked me to try again and reminded me of how I had wanted to ship the whole set of encyclopedia to Japan right after we got married and I was about to move to Japan and how I didn't care about my clothes or other belongings except for the encyclopedia. So who's the Geek?

My couple would rather use "Geek and the Nerd" definition ka.

Agree or not I think 90% of peaceful marriage was contributed by the faithfulness of one another!

Note: My life has been intertwined with works and many others. New responsibility has emerged, resulting less and less time for my ordinary life. Although, a love to write is still intact... But having less time is related to having less imagination.... Therefore, I could not come up with new writings for quite some times.

It might be a good time for me to leave this forum for moment.... Please take it as Mr. A.T. is having a sabbactatical leave or something like that....

As noted above, my love to write is still the same... and will not be changed. Sometimes somehow, I hope I could come back and give some thoughts in this blog once more.

Cheers,
Mr. A.T.

Hello,

My pen-name in Pantip is amatuer translator. Actually, I'm a lousy translator with lame translation. My pen-name is somewhat misleading, I have no background in linguistics what-so-ever. Anyway I love to read, write and communicate with people...

Reading is my most favorite hobby. I read everything from shopping bags to articles in theoretical physics. I do research and teaching for my living. So, reading, writing, thinking and doing research works are my everyday routine.

I would like to define myself as a person who is accepting new ideas and adopting those into my way of life.

I believe in power of knowledge/education. I think every society can be a better society with knowledge. Ignorance can be dispelled by it. Humanity can live sustainably and harmoniously with each other along with its biosphere with understandings in the nature surrounding it.

Apart from my philosophical thoughts reflecting who I am, I can tell you something I like or love in particular;

I love dogs.... Particularly, labradore retrievers.... One day, I would like to spend my time and life with them as a big part of my family.

Zhuge Liang is my hero. With his wisdom and faithfulness, he led a tiny army to a mighty and formidable kingdom. He left his humble residence with a hope to come back. But, sadly, he had never returned and died far far away from home in a horse carriage in a battle field. If I could choose where I would, I would say where-ever my lovely wife was nearby.

I value happiness and my family as my first priority. My profession and my philosophy come in the second. Pursuit in wealth has never been in my desire.

I'm glad to be your friend, and look forward to seeing you around krub.

Best wishes,
A.T.
