The boys debuted infront of their new home crowd. Gago seemed more relax. He created chances and beautiful passes but this new blood non-galacticos team will need more playing time to create more understanding but they are heading in the right direction. A display of spirit and determination which have disappeared from Real Madrid for quite sometimes.
Higuain was a revelation. He made the assist for Ruud to tap in for the only goal of the game against a strong attacking Real Zaragoza team. Higuain seem relaxed with the ball at his feet playing for his new home fan for the first time. He was MOM.
Gago and Higuaín in Argentina ----------------------------------- Leading Argentine newspapers comment on their countrymen's performances against Zaragoza
The top three newspapers in Argentina -Olé, Clarín and La Nación- highlighted Gago and Higuaín's excellent Santiago Bernabéu debut.
Yesterday, Gago and Higuaín made the covers of the Spanish sports press due to their phenomenal performance on Sunday against Zaragoza. The Argentine media soon followed suit. Gago and Higuaín's performance was mentioned in the press and on radio and television programmes.
Sports journal Olé mainly focused on Higuaín's, highlighting his excellent attitude and his assist to Van Nistelrooy, from which the Dutch striker scored Real Madrid's winning goal. In his article El de la buena Pipita, journalist Federico M.Wines described the striker as being "key for the Whites to come out of the current crisis."
Diario Clarín's match report had similar views and opinions as Olé and mainly focused on the cheers both Argentine players got from the Bernabéu fans. "Gago and Higuaín won the crowd over in their Bernabéu debut," they wrote, "They both performed excellently." Diario Clarín also considered both players to be instrumental in the Club's "resurrection." Journalist Andrés Burgo noted that their signings are important in a team that has been completely renewed this season. "Real Madrid are entering a new galaxy with Gago and Higuaín," he wrote.
La Nación opted for a special article exclusively focusing on Argentine players in the Spanish League, highlighting Gago and Higuaín's performance. "Real Madrid resurfaced thanks to Gago and Higuaín."
