ทว่านี่ก่อให้เกิดคำถามขึ้นมาว่า อะไรอยู่เลยจากกาแลคซีที่อยู่ไกลที่สุดเหล่านั้นออกไปอีก ? ถ้าดูภาพนี้สิ่งที่เห็นชัดเจนก็คือความมืดเท่านั้นที่กั้นอยู่ระหว่างกาแลคซี ความดำมืดนี้เองเป็นต้นเหตุที่ทำให้ท้องฟ้ายามค่ำคืนนั้นมืด มันเป็นเส้นเขตแดนสุดท้ายของแสงจากดาวฤกษ์ที่อยู่ไกลโพ้น อย่างไรก็ตาม ความดำมืดแท้จริงแล้วก็คือ รังสีไมโครเวฟพื้นหลัง
ดังนั้นคำตอบสุดท้ายต่อคำถามที่ว่า เหตุใดท้องฟ้ายามค่ำคืนจึงดำมืดนั้นก็คือ ท้องฟ้ายามค่ำคืนจริงๆแล้วมิได้มืดสนิทแต่อย่างใด โดยถ้าดวงตาของเราสามารถมองเห็นรังสีไมโครเวฟได้ด้วย มิใช่เฉพาะแต่แสงในช่วงคลื่นที่มองเห็นได้ เราก็จะสามารถมองเห็นรังสีจากบิกแบงอาบอยู่ทั่วท้องฟ้าด้วย ในอีกแง่หนึ่ง รังสีจากบิกแบงปรากฏให้เห็นอยู่ทุกค่ำคืน ถ้าเพียงเรามีดวงที่สามารถมองเห็นรังสีไมโครเวฟได้ เราก็จะเห็นว่า เลยจากดาวฤกษ์ที่อยู่ห่างไกลที่สุดนั้นก็คือปรากฏการณณ์การก่อกำเนิดนั่นเอง
