.....~~The Noble Intruder~~.....

The Noble Intruder In the middle of a starry night, the moon shone upon a palatial castle with turrets and towers standing gracefully on a hill. A pair of bright emerald-green eyes fixed on the right wing of the castle where the precious thing of his life lay peacefully.
A shadow followed a man dressed in a black robe who was penetrating the manor of the Earl of Wessex and creeping towards the rear of the castle. He climbed and threw himself through a window of a large kitchen in the basement. He made his way through the darkness until he found himself in a long corridor with decorative oil paintings on canvas portraying the former owners of the castle and priceless famous oil paintings alongside.
He viewed the high ceiling embellished with twinkling chandeliers in Baroque style, together with numerous intricate candlebars on the walls. Summoning up his indomitable courage, Philippe glided along til the magnificent red-carpeted staircase with its bronze banisters stood silently in front of him.
On the spur of the moment, he heard a footstep i n the vicinity of where he was standing, whereupon he sought shelter behind an ancient tapestry depicting a hunting scene. He envisioned himself being hunted in a similar way to the unfortunate creative in the hanging cloth before him if he was captured owing to what he was committing.
The noble man sighed after the footsteps disappeared and rushed to the second floor, heading for the great room at the end of the corridor.
Inside the marvellous room lay his gem.
Sleeping with deafening silence on the four-poster bed was Josephine, the only daughter of the Earl of Wessex, who happened to have been the rival of his family for two generations.
The sweet scent of white lilies touched him, and the warmth from the fireplace comforted him. The young nobleman gazed upon Josephine with affection, but he restrained himself from destroying her reputation by taking her away from her family.
Glancing around the room, apart from invaluable oil paintings on the wall and classic pieces of furniture, along with crystal lampshed, his green eyes noticed an intricate wooden box upon which were engraved two letters : J, and P.
He opened it, and saw his own letters on which he had dilated upon his ardour towards her, kept together with a white rose in full bloom he had offered her two years ago.
Realizing that she still loved him, Philippe placed a locket of his household on the lid of the box as a symbol of his fidelity towards the only woman he had ever loved, and put it on the mantelpiece before disappearing into the darkness.
The noble intruder had anticipated stealing the most precious gem from the castle, but eventually found his own heart stolen.
From that day forth and forever, he would have no heart for anyone else. ***********
The teacher’s comment : Wow! I’ve never received a piece of homework Like this before. I presume you realise the style You have used is rather antiquated – you’re well on The way to mastering it, though! Superb.
