Preface
Since 1993, after first introduction of 7 types of food test kits, Department of Medical Sciences, Ministry of Public Health, Thailand, has continuously developed the food test kits which are available for food control system. At the present day, total 22 types of food test kits were developed and have been used nationwide for examination of food, beverage, water, ice and food contact articles. Widely spread domestic use of the test kits, both in urban and local areas, is promoted under national consumer protection scheme in order to lessen high risk impact to consumer health. For the past 10 years, a large number of food manufacturers, food control authorities and general consumers have used these test kits for the objectives of screening food samples, monitoring and surveillance of food quality programs. Except domestic availability, use of these food test kits has been extensively transferred to foreign countries, consequently, Thai language handbook of food test kits was translated to English version which will benefit foreigners to obviously understand using of food test kits and can conduct their tests properly and effectively.
