Cheng Meng Festival
I am Thai. I like studying English. This is English Group Blog but this blog is about Chinese festival.
Today I went to my dad's grave in Prachin Buri. This is the reason why this blog's title is Cheng Meng Festival.
Like Songkran Festival, Cheng Meng Festival (Qing Ming Festival) is a time for family reunion. We go to the grave, sweep the grave, repaint the grave, and decorate the grave with flowers, flags, and colorful papers. Then we place a superb set of food in front of the grave, light the candles and the incense sticks, and call our ancestor to receive the food. After that we burn the paper money and clothing for him. We usually have a meal after finishing the ritual. We believe this will bring good luck to us. Then we pack things and clean the grave. Finally, we burn a long band of firecrackers. After burning them, there is a band with number. This is a clue for people who like buying lotteries.
