On November 29th 2010, New Zealands new Immigration Act comes into effect. There are some important changes that you need to be aware of.
New Fees
From November 29th 2010, the fees for applications will be as follows:
Visitor Visa 3,300 Baht 115 US$
Group Visitor Visa - Thailand 1,700 Baht 60 US$
Student visa 5,300 Baht 185 US$
Work Visa - Other 5,300 Baht 185 US$
Work Visa - Work Partnership 7,200 Baht 250 US$
Work Visa - Work to Residence 7200 Baht 250 US$
Working Holiday Scheme 3,300 Baht 115 US$
Transit Visa 3,000 Baht 105 US$
Label transfer (to new passport) 2,100 Baht 75 US$
Residence - Family Category 31,100 Baht 1,080 US$
Skilled Migrant Category 47,200 Baht 1,640 US$
Permanent Resident visa 3,700 Baht 130 US$
2 Photographs
From November 29th 2010 application forms will need to have two photographs attached.
The photos must be:
The same.
Not more than six months old.
New Forms & Guides
From November 29th 2010, there will be new versions of all application forms and guides. You can still use all of the old forms except:
INZ1004, Application for Returning Residents Visa, which has been replaced by form INZ 1175, Application from a Resident Visa Holder.
INZ 1005, Returning Residents Visa Guide, which has been replaced by guide INZ 1176, Guide for Resident Visa Holders.
INZ 1024, Sponsorship Form for Residence. This form has been updated and you must use either the new version of the form or the new form INZ 1178 Partnership Support Form for Residence.
INZ 1025, Sponsorship Form for Visiting NZ. This form has been updated and you must use the new version of the form.
Sponsorship
Under the new Act there are changes to the way sponsorship works. From November 29th 2010 sponsors will be liable for accommodation, maintenance and repatriation costs of the visitor as well as all debt owing to any Government agency. Sponsorship cannot be withdrawn; once the Visa Application has been approved the sponsor will be liable for any debt until it has been fully paid. The sponsorship forms (INZ 1024 & INZ 1025) have been updated to reflect these changes. From November 29th we will only accept the updated forms.
