Miss World 2012 : The contestants sample Mongolian nomadic life
The contestants sample Mongolian nomadic life 05 August 2012 A rare treat was in store for the contestants as they embarked on a visit to a working nomadic village. As ever, there was great excitement on their arrival and an excited crowd had gathered to meet them. White scarves were draped around their necks and beautiful ribbon bracelets strung with bells were wrapped round their wrists.
As well as the chance to visit some traditional yurts, there was also much evidence of village activity to be seen. Some of the contestants got busy helping to churn yoghurt, whilst others observed (and then got to sample!) pastries and biscuits being made. The gorgeous Mongolian horses were a big hit and so was the loud and festive music issuing from a nearby yurt in preparation for a special ceremony. The contestants got to witness the enactment of a Mongolian wedding. The vibrant music, and bright and festive clothing, made for a wonderful atmosphere and the delegates were keen to see all the elements that make the local celebrations so unique. Before leaving, the contestants were asked to sign stones, which they placed close to the entrance of the village as a reminder of their trip.
