Baan Yuree Resort and Spa - Great place to stay” Baan Yuree Resort and Spa Save Review 5 of 5 stars Devin21 1 contribution Montreal Feb 9, 2010 | Trip type: Friends getaway
My friend and I stayed at this resort from January 29th to February 4th, 2010. Overall we had a great experience! We are two 23 year old women and were backpacking Thailand for 18 days. We spent most of the trip in cheap hostels but decided to spoil ourselves with a nice resort in Phuket.
Getting to and from the airport: Baan Yuree is located at the bottom end of Patong beach and we could see it from our balcony. We took the minivan shuttle from the airport and paid 150 Baht each. Make sure that the driver brings you all the way into the resort parking lot. It is located at the top of a pretty steep hill and ours just dropped us off at the bottom so we had to climb it with our backpacks! Not fun. Our flight back to Bangkok was at midnight which was too late to take the mini van shuttle. Instead, the hotel arranged a private car to pick us up and we paid 800 Baht. I think it would have been cheaper to take a cab on our own.
Getting to and from the beach: You could probably walk to the beach in 15 minutes or so, but because of the intense hill, we never chose to do it. The resort has a shuttle that runs every 2 hours from 10 am to 10 pm. It drops you off and picks you up at the end of Bangla road. We used this most of the time during the day and paid for a tuk tuk to come back late at night. We could usually find one for 200 Baht. When we first arrived none of the drivers knew where the resort was and we always had to show the little business card map. But by the end of our stay most knew it by name. If you have any problems you can always just say that it’s right next to the Simon Cabaret.
Rooms: We had a basic superior room with 2 double beds. It had a nice balcony and everything was great, I really can’t complain about any of it. Everything was brand new and in mint condition. We got bathrobes and slippers.
Pool: Gorgeous. We never had any problems finding a chair to lie on. The swim up bar was nice and in the afternoons they put on some music, it’s a really fun atmosphere. Also, they let us plug in our own Ipod from time to time. They say that it closes at 8:00 but they won’t object if you want to take a dip later on.
Food: The breakfast was great. It was a basic buffet with toast, jam, croissants, fresh fruit, juice, milk, potatoes, rice, bacon, tea and coffee, and they had a person making omelets. We ordered from the restaurant a couple of times and the food was really good, but took a while to get. I personally think that it’s because they’re still new and the staff is just getting used to the way everything works. The room service was great and took about a half hour to arrive. My only real complaint is that the alcohol was pretty pricy. It cost about 70-80 Baht for a bottle of beer. Cocktails were about 130-180 if I remember correctly.
Staff: Amazing. They were probably the best part of this hotel. They are all so sweet and you can tell that they really just want to please you. Most didn’t speak too much English but we managed to communicate just fine. And they paid special attention to each customer. They even helped us rearrange our travel itinerary so that we could see Calvin Harris DJ in Phuket. They called our guesthouse in Ko Phi Phi to adjust our dates there and they themselves had no problem changing our reservations. They even let us keep our backpacks in storage while we were in Ko Phi Phi.
Other: If you want to book excursions however, I would advise you to book at a tourist kiosk somewhere else. I think you can find a better deal there. And I know that transport is cheaper if you book elsewhere. In order to get to Ko Phi Phi and back, the hotel was charging 1500 Baht per person, however we booked the same deal on Bangla road for 700 Baht instead. (In case you’re wondering, this included transport by a mini van from the resort to the pier, our ferry ticket and an open ended ticket for the same deal on the way back.)
Sorry if this was a little long, but since there are no other reviews on this hotel I wanted to include everything. I would definitely go back.

Pool Bar in the pool Friendly bar staff Fast internet
Hotel still being built partially Huge hill the hotel is on... tuk tuks want to charge more for going up the hill. And that's if they know where the hotel is since it's new. Power would go several times or the internet would go down but when you call the front desk no one has a clue or unable to do anything. Lack of english speaking room service.
I stayed for 3 days and the first 2 were great. Pool bar was awesome, internet was fast and the food was good. The location made things a little difficult since it's too far to walk to the strip from the place plus it's location on the hill made it difficult to negotiate with tuk tuk's. If I had to stay again with a party mentality I would pick a place that was walking distance from the strip. If i was to come for a relaxing place in phuket I would stay here again... I'm sure thier electrical problems we had on the 3rd day was due to the place still being built.
