My first scan on 8 weeks
This week: Webbed fingers and toes are poking out from my baby's hands and feet, eyelids practically cover eyes, breathing tubes extend from throat to the branches of developing lungs, and "tail" is just about gone. In the brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways. Either way, my baby is about the size of a kidney bean and is constantly moving and shifting. I have been to Neath-Port Talbot (NPT) Hospital for the first scan today .I feel abit happy that my baby is still fine .After finishing scan I talked with my midwife .She explained to me about CVS procedure because in my first pregnancy I got a problem about chromosome and I lost her in 7 month term of pregnancy. She asked me that I would like to do this test, but I said I dont want to..
Chorionic villus sampling (CVS): This diagnostic test involves collecting cells from the placenta, which are then sent to a lab for genetic analysis. CVS can identify whether baby has any of hundreds of chromosomal abnormalities and other genetic disorders. It's done in the first trimester, usually between 11 and 12 weeks, making it an earlier alternative to another diagnostic genetic test called amniocentesis, which is done between 16 and 20 weeks. CVS is a procedure during which a doctor remove a small amount of tissue from placenta (afterbirth) during pregnancy. The cell in this tissue are tested in the laboratory to look at babys chromosomes
